Inspiring Teacher Talks
I hope that you are willing to give 10 minutes of your time to watch this Ted Talk. Diana Laufenberg provides valuable insight about making changes in her teaching practices. Her topic "How to Learn? From Mistakes" addresses the very same issues many of you have reflected upon over the course of this school year. Feedback collected by Mr. Ewing regarding your professional learning experiences this year revealed that we still have a few staff members that are coming to terms with "why" changes are needed. I believe Laufenberg sums it up nicely in her talk. For the over-achievers out there, this Ted Talk is part of the "10 Inspiring Teacher Talks" series. All are worth your time.

Did you know?
TODAY is School Lunch Hero day. Following is a note received from Kim Kitter one of the Aramark Food Service supervisors who works for the district: "The first Friday in May, better known as School Lunch Hero Day (May 6), is a special time for school officials, students, parents—indeed, everyone!—from all over the country to recognize the hardworking professionals in school cafeterias. Not only do these professionals prepare tasty meals for America’s students, they do so in following complex rules, including strict nutritional standards, and navigate student food allergies, ethnic traditions and varying preferences—all while offering service with a smile."
Heather and crew do a wonderful job. Be sure to let them know they are appreciated.
PTSA Receives Two BIG Awards
Our PTSA received honors this week at Wednesday's PTSA city-wide council meeting. Our unit was recognized for having the "highest membership based upon school enrollment of over 1,000". The GHS unit was also recognized for having the highest total membership. This is a REALLY big deal. The highest membership award rarely goes to a high school. We have an awesome PTSA that works hard for our school community. Be sure to let our PTSA volunteers know how much they are valued and appreciated.
