Message from the Principal
Good afternoon Barbieri Families,
I hope you are all doing well. Unfortunately, we ended the week with a significant amount of positive COVID cases at our school. I urge everyone to TEST THEIR CHILDREN EACH SUNDAY EVENING OR MONDAY MORNING before returning to school AND at any point if they are experiencing any symptoms, even if it's only a runny nose, slight cough, etc. Allergy symptoms can also feel like COVID symptoms.
Through home testing and Wednesday's student and staff pool testing we identified 30 positive cases at Barbieri School this week.
PLEASE KEEP YOUR CHILDREN HOME IF THEY ARE SICK.
- After testing positive with COVID everyone is expected to wear a MASK for the first 5 days when returning to school. Masking after testing positive and returning to school is NOT optional. On day 6, masking can be optional.
- I strongly encourage everyone to continue to TEST WEEKLY prior to coming to school. There are asymptomatic cases.
- PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN TO SCHOOL IF THEY DO NOT FEEL WELL, EVEN IF THEY TESTED NEGATIVE that day. If they are sick, they should be home resting! Your children's health is important to us!
- If your children do not feel well and test negative, it doesn't hurt to test them again if they continue to feel ill as they can test positive on the second time.
- I strongly encourage everyone who is able to test to continue to do so weekly through our school's pool testing.
Let's all do our part to keep our community healthy!
Be well,
Maria
MCAS MAY 2022
During MCAS testing please ensure that your child has a good night's sleep and full breakfast! Please remember that breakfast is available at school for all students! ALL STUDENTS SHOULD ARRIVE TO SCHOOL ON TIME!
STE- Science Technology and Engineering
ELA- English Language Arts
Math- Math
During testing ALL ELECTRONIC DEVICES ARE PROHIBTED. This includes cell phones and apple watches, etc. Please be sure that you discuss with your child that if they chose to still bring these devices to school they will need to give these devices to their classroom teacher/testing proctor BEFORE testing begins and they will receive them AFTER the testing session has ended. This is a non-negotiable. If any device is set off (rings, vibrates, etc.) during testing we risk having to invalidate tests.
Thank you for all of your support at home and for understanding!
