What's Up in the Tech World
Welcome to May!
Welcome to May! It is hard to believe that we are this close to the end of the school year. I will be at Lower Campus Monday and Thursday and Upper Campus Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Quizlet has added a new Quizlet Live. I know many of you have students who already use Quizlet for review. I have included a link below that describes how to use Quizlet live. It functions similar to Kahoot or Quizizz.
I have included a link below to a great article discussing the combined use of paper/pencil tasks and technology. It is important to me that you realize I don't believe technology is always the answer. There are some tasks that are much better done with pencil, paper, glue, scissors, colors, etc. I enjoyed reading this blog post and I hope you do too.
Kudos to Caroline Herron! She found two really awesome tools to use in her classroom this week. The first is Todaysmeet.com. I have attached a post the gives you a little information but I am going to include Caroline's words here:
"Do you do Socratic seminars?? I used a tool today called Today's Meet (www.todaysmeet.com) to enhance my history round table and it was enormously successful! It allowed kids on the outside of the circle to interact with the content as well, it was SUPER easy for me to set up, and the kids gave it rave reviews. All I did was get the Chromebooks for the day of our discussion, took 30 seconds to set up a "room" on todaysmeet.com, and then warn the kids that everything they say on Today's Meet counts towards (or detracts from) their grades and that their 'nickname' MUST be their actual name. Then we launched into it! "
She is also testing out a site called BlendSpace - more on that later.
