The Fault in Our Stars

Story by: John Green Presentation by: Elle Zimmerman

First Person Point Of View

The point of view is first person point of view because Hazel Is talking in her own perspective, and is narrating the story in her own words and nobody else is narrating the story.

Example from text: Late in the winter of my seventeenth year, my mother decided I was depressed.

In this story, you know how the main character feel. It also gives the "I" perspective.

Example from book: "And how are you feeling?" asked Patrick.

"Oh I'm Grand." Augustus Waters smiled with a corner of his mouth.

"I'm on a roller coaster that only goes up, my friend."

"Literally," he said.

"Literally?" I asked.

"We are literally in the heart of Jesus," he said.

In this dialogue sentences, you learn more about Augustus as he explains how he is doing. In the second example, you hear how Augustus and Hazel talk to each other.
