School Update
Happy New Year! Welcome to 2023 and winter on the hill! I hope that you were able to enjoy some fun, and hopefully a bit of relaxation during our holiday break from school. I am super happy to have our children back at school! Please double check all outdoor winter clothing to be sure that your child's name is on each item. Our lost and found does pile up really fast!
I would like to thank our music teacher, Mr. Sutton, for preparing our students to present our holiday concert on December 19. The concert was beautiful and fun! Thank you to our staff, our PTO and the Pirate Music Boosters for their support of this special event. It was great to see so many of our families at the concert!
As a reminder for first grade parents, we will soon be offering first grade students "Safe Body" lessons, presented by LACASA. These lessons will be 20 minutes long for nine school days, in each first grade classroom. Mrs. Schott and I will be hosting a virtual parent meeting in advance of the lessons to share any information and answer parent questions on Tuesday, January 5 at 6:00pm.
It is hard to imaging that we are approaching the end of our first semester of school! Our marking period ends on Friday, January 13. This will be a half day of school, as it is RECORDS Day for teachers. Dismissal will be at 12:26. Report cards will be sent home about a week later. We will be conducting our winter assessments with students between January 13 and January 27. Teachers will be sharing the results of these assessments once they become available.
There will be NO SCHOOL for students on Monday, January 16 for Dr. Martin Luther King Day. Our staff will be engaged in a full day of professional learning on this day. Please make a note of these two dates for your planning purposes.
Thank you for letting me know how I might best support you and your children at school.
Take care,
Yvonne

How does it work? Between the hours of 4:30-6:00 pm, arrive at the transportation garage, 2020 E M-36, check in with a volunteer and pull into the open bay. Volunteers load up your vehicle with food and off you go! It’s as easy as that! Please contact Sandy Buczek at 810.225.5607 to be added to the monthly robocall list, if you are not already receiving the phone calls before each distribution.
