Superhero Writing Camp
On March 23, our Fourth grade students participated in a Superhero Writing Camp to prepare for their STAAR Writing test. Students dressed in Superhero attire were involved in games and activities throughout the Fourth grade halls and the playground. Students loved this fun day full of skill practice before the big test! We have found this camp to help alleviate some stress the students and teachers are both feeling.
4th grade Writing Test
Our first STAAR test is in the books. Fourth graders worked hard on March 28 on their Writing test. The Expository essay and multiple choice questions took most students at least three hours to complete. I was so proud of how hard they worked and the effort they put forth. Now we press on and keep our foot to the pedal until May 8 & 9 when we take our Math and Reading STAAR tests.
Behavior Bashes
On March 30, we held our Third Quarter Positive Behavior Bashes for 200 of our Third and Fourth graders. They were awarded for their positive behavior choices, responsible work habits, and good attendance. These special students had a bouncy ball party outside and then at the conclusion of their party went through a candy bar and received a new spirit stick.
The End of Molasses Classes by Ron Clark
I introduced our new book study for the 2017-2018 school year last Friday in my Friday Focus. After our trip to the Ron Clark Academy, I wanted to share a little of the magic I was able to witness. This book is full of new and exciting strategies to make learning fun and engaging for students. I invited all staff to participate for exchange credit and the interest and participation is building daily.
