Academic Learning Updates

Mid year Academic Testing

Students have begun their mid year progress monitoring assessments. Between now and the end of quarter 2 (January 18) teachers will administer the winter MAP reading and math assessments and the annual Fountas & Pinnell literacy assessment. These mid-year progress checks will provide teachers with information about student progress and guide their decisions about what to review and how to introduce new content in the spring semester.

Upcoming student Social

On Thursday, January 18 from 2:25-3:30 we will be holding the first Grewenow Social of the year. Any student in grade 3 - 5 interested in attending needs to return their permission form and $5 to school by Tuesday, January 16. If your student needs another form, they can ask their teacher.

No School Monday

In Honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, there is NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 15. Classes will resume Tuesday morning at the regular time. Enjoy the 3 day weekend!

Halfway through the School Year

Friday, January 19 marks the end of quarter 2 and the first semester. It is also a teacher work day which means there are NO CLASSES for students. Enjoy the three day weekend!

Remember to Dress for the Weather

Now that we can say it is winter (snow anyone?), please make sure your child is dressed for appropriately for outdoor recess. Hats, coats, mittens/gloves, boots, and snow pants are all recommended so students can stay warm and dry.

If there is snow on the ground, students who do not have boots and snow pants must remain on the blacktop for recess.

The district guidelines for indoor/outdoor recess procedures are imaged below.

If you have any questions or concerns about the outdoor recess protocol, please call the office at 359-6362
