Happy Friday, Lil Steamer Families!
March 13, 2020
From the desk of: Principal Hoese
I will be brief and to the point in this week's principal's message.
With the COVID-19 pandemic in effect, there have been a number of precautionary measures in response by organizations, businesses, educational institutions, and governments. Here is what we have currently done and are organizing at Fulton Elementary School:
- Increased cleaning and sanitation efforts at school
- Increased promotion of hand-washing and hygiene
- Reduction of Monday, March 16 book fair hours to end at 4 PM
- Postponement of FES Open House to a later date
- Preparation by faculty towards E-Learning/Home-based Learning options in the event of school closings
Much has changed since our administration meeting on Tuesday afternoon. Much has changed since our staff meeting on Wednesday afternoon. We will continue to monitor the situation day by day.
As we move ahead in the coming weeks, please remember that no student is to return to school unless they have been 24 hours without a fever. Err on the side of caution if your child has any symptoms, and I would encourage you to do the same in regards to yourself in your profession.
Oh, and Happy St. Patrick's Day!
A Letter from Dr. Hogue

Time management can be a challenge for busy children. Here are some activities you can do with your child to teach time management:
Create a list of things your child needs to do throughout the week. Rank them by importance with your child. Post the list on the fridge or somewhere it will be seen during the week.
Set goals as a family. Discuss what should be done first and why.
Plan time as a family. Set aside time each week for family time. Watch movies or cook dinner together, whatever works for your family. Make this time a priority.
Sousa's March Mania!
Music classes are celebrating Music in Our Schools Month with a contest from the U.S. Marine Corps- Sousa's March Mania! Each classroom has filled out a bracket picking which song they want to win. We are voting in music class, but the battles continue even on the weekends!
Some of our classroom favorites have their first battle this weekend! Saturday's battle is "Entry of the Gladiators" vs "El Capitan," and Sunday is "The Fairest of the Fair" vs "The Gallant Seventh"

March Book Madness Elite 8!
During the month of March, FES is participating in March Book Madness where every class will read two books and then vote on which book they enjoyed more. Once every class has read all of the books, we update our bracket and move on to the next round. We just completed the Sweet 16 and are moving on the Elite 8. These are the books that the students voted into the next round!
