A Periodic, Building-Wide Newsletter for the NF Community
NF Community Returns Safely
Despite Summit County being labelled as a 'red' county recently, NF celebrated a great opening week. Students gathered with their masks and practiced social distancing protocols throughout each day. Remote learners engaged in daily on-line lessons, and teachers excitedly executed well-planned lessons and activities. The staff is so grateful for the advanced role modeling and discussions that families clearly had about the importance of personal safety. As we move into week #2, we offer our thanks to the entire NF community for their efforts, patience, and involvement.
Virtual Open House Planned for Thursday
The NF teachers will host either grade-level or individual classroom Open House programs on Thursday, September 17th. This upcoming week families will receive Google Meet codes specifying the times for each program. The Google Meets meetings will be recorded for those families who are unable to be present at the assigned times. Open House is designed to review the first few weeks, provide curricular information, discuss changes in our 'new normal,' and give parents the opportunity to ask questions about the classroom environment and upcoming plans for the year. Please remain engaged by attending these virtual meetings.
- Grade 4 @ 4:15 p.m.
- Grade 3 @ 4:30 p.m.
- Grade 2 @ 4:45 p.m.
- Grades K-1 @ 5:00 p.m.

Critical On-Line Forms to be Completed by Families
Each year, parents and care-givers are required to complete on-line forms, using the Parent Portal in our student information system. Now more than ever, it is critical that information is accurate; including, parent email addresses. If this information is not complete, families will miss targeted information related to their child's education. Please complete today by accessing the main district website at www.nordoniaschools.org. Midway down the page, click on the "Forms" tab.
Girls on the Run: While we are involved with hybrid and remote learning, NF won't officially host the annual Girls on the Run program; however, the overall organization is providing the opportunity for a virtual program. Sounds intriguing for our upper grade girls. If interested, please click on the link below to learn more:

Photo Contest: Over (50) families participated in our week #1 'Back to School Photo Contest." Both remote and in-person learners are eligible to win a pizza prize. Winners will be announced this upcoming week. Check out our great photos within the photo gallery of our SmartPhone app.
Photo Opt-Out: There is reason to believe that parents may have answered some questions with the on-line forms too quickly. Why, you ask? We have an abundance of families who don't want their child's picture taken at school or shared via social media. This decision would include opting out of the yearbook, too. Normally, we have 2-3 children who aren't photographed by choice. Please review your on-line forms and make sure you checked the 'yes' or 'no' boxes correctly. My theory is that many families quickly checked 'yes' on all the boxes without realizing the opt-out section. Please let the office know if you make a change, too.
Breakfast Program "On Hold": We only had (3) families, less than 1% of our student body, express interest in the breakfast program. As such, we will take a 'wait and see' approach as to whether NF will implement this program. As a 'protector' of taxpayers funds, it doesn't seem prudent to hire staff for such a small number of interested families.
