Coming Next Week...
--LITERACY--
For the next few weeks, we will be wrapping up standards and reviewing and prepping for next year.
--MATH--
This past week, our learners discussed the concept mass and how to measure the amount of mass an object contains. Learners discussed that mass is measured in grams and kilograms. We then used scales to find the different masses of objects and to estimate when we would use grams or kilograms.
This upcoming week, we will be focusing on capacity. The learners will engage in various activities to explore the concept. The capacity of an object is the volume or how much the container can hold. Learners will be expected to measure liquid volume in the metric units of liters and milliliters.
Ask Me About....
Have you ever asked your child what he or she did in school that day, only to hear them say: "Nothing," or "I don't know"? The questions below might help your child start a conversation about what he or she is currently learning in school.
- What objects in your house would you use grams to find the mass?
- What objects in your house would you use kilograms to find the mass?
- What common object has the mass of "about" 1 gram?
- What common object has the mass of "about" 1 kilogram?
Thank you, Mr. Snitil!
