Principal's Message
Kia ora, Talofa, Kia orana,
Greetings Parents, Grandparents and Caregivers,
Staff this week finalised our 2023 student classroom placements. As mentioned previously, staff took into consideration a large number of variables including academic needs, social needs and teacher strengths, in an effort to ensure the best possible structure for all students within the available resources. Whanau requests were also taken into consideration with many able to be met. Next Wednesday (7th of December, 10.30-11.00am) we are planning to hold our ‘Meet your 2023 teacher’ morning, where students get to spend ½ an hour in their new class, and with their new teacher. That same day they will come home with their 2023 stationery list.
Important Notice
We have been made aware of that there are a number of students from across the school, that have been on a regular basis leaving school at the end of the day and walking down to the local dairy before going to home or to after school care at Kelly Club. This can lead to serious concerns for parents if their child doesn’t show-up when and where they are expected. The school has given reminders to students, and we ask that you also please speak with your child/ren to clarify expectations.

Junior School Update
Middle School Update
This past week Room 7 and 8 have been having lessons from Lorraine who works for the city council about how to reduce the waste in their class and homes. She has educated them about the different natural resources that we use in everyday life and why we need to look after our resources. She has also talked about why we need to help reduce the amount of waste that we produce as a society and for the future of our planet. The students have been so engaged as they have participated in sharing their knowledge and asking thoughtful questions. They especially loved seeing the worms that Lorraine brought in from her own compost as we learnt about what can and cannot be composted!
Senior School Update
For our inquiry this term we have been learning about 'Our Government'. In Room 19 and 20, we have spent the past few weeks learning about how parliament makes decisions and the different roles that members of parliament have. To put this learning into action, students formed their own parties based on how they feel about the law around the age that children are allowed to stay home alone. They decided if the law should stay the same, if the age should increase or decrease. In their parties, students created party names and posters to support their cause. Here are photos of some of the party names and slogans they came up with!
