Principal's Message

Safety & Security at PUE

The Wake County Public School System Board of Education approved a security assessment project that will impact every school and administrative facility within the district. A company based in Florida called School Safety Advocacy Council (SSAC) will conduct the assessments. The assessments will include the following:

Examining our physical security infrastructure

Employee interviews

Observing school arrival and dismissal procedures

Other security and life safety policies and procedures

The safety of students and staff is our priority. Throughout the year, our school will conduct safety drills that give us an opportunity to practice procedures in the event that an actual crisis situation occurs. Each month we have fire drills so that students and staff are aware of what to do in the event of a fire at school. We will also conduct severe weather drills so we know how to respond to a weather event while we are in school.

We will also conduct lockdown drills this school year. These drills help us to know what to do in the event that there is an immediate threat at school. Teachers and staff will review these procedures with students throughout the year. We never know when a threat could occur, so these drills will not be announced in advance. Please talk with your child about lockdown drills.

We need help from all PUE Families with beautifying our school grounds on Sunday, September 29th from 10-2pm! Did you know that it is our families' duty to maintain donated planted flowers, shrubs, (i.e. carpool circle, islands throughout the carpool, butterfly garden, etc.)? The PUE PTA priority this year is to make our grounds as beautiful as the community that we represent so come out and show your LOVE for our school! Our focus on the 29th will be on weeding and laying mulch in the butterfly garden and weeding a small portion of the center island in the carpool circle. Please take an hour of your time to come out and lend a hand: #WeAreBetterTogether#

We will have a Climbin' Good Time at Tree Runner Adventure Park!

Our 1st Family Fun Event will be held on Friday, September 27th, starting at 4:30pm, at TreeRunner Adventure Park.

Tickets are $35 for an aerial ticket (Ages 7 and Up) and $17 for a Junior Park ticket (Ages 7 and Under). A paying adult must accompany every child under the age of 10 for the aerial park. An adult chaperone must also accompany children on the Junior Park (up to 3 children per family) but does not have to pay. This is a great way to hang with your family and the rest of the PUE community. Calling all Track 3 Families! Did you know that you only need to donate to a staff appreciation lunch one time this year? NOW IS THE TIME! We need monetary donations to be able to provide Moe's to all of the teachers and administration on September 27th. Make your donation Today!Staff Appreciation Monetary Donation. Thank you to all Track 3 parents that have already made their annual staff appreciation lunch donation!

Terracycle Tuesday Tom’s of Maine Brush Up & Recycle!

Donate Your Mouthwash bottles and caps, toothbrushes, deodorant containers and caps, soap packaging, floss containers, and toothpaste tubes and caps. Any Brand!! The Panthers Give Back and the PUE PTA are hosting Terracycle Tuesdays starting this Tuesday, September 24th and it will run through October 22nd. PLEASE make sure all excess product has been removed (i.e. leftover toothpaste or extra floss) and send products in with your student on Tuesdays. Panther’s Give Back will have boxes in each classroom. You can also sign up at WWW.TERRACYCLE.COM and join free programs. Select Pleasant Union Elementary PTA as your Charity.

Memberhub and PTA Membership

Our membership is up to 310 members this year which is awesome! We have set a goal of 550 members so please consider joining if you have not already by clicking the following link: The classroom with the most membership by October 31st will win a Pizza Party!!

Track Shirts

We have delivered all of the shirts in the respective sizes that we had IN STOCK. We placed an order for all of the track and grade level shirts that we did not have in stock. We will deliver the shirts upon receipt from the vendor. We will send a message, via Memberhub, when we receive the shirts so you know to look out for the shirts in your child's backpack. We will make certain these shirts are ordered and delivered to your child prior to their first field trip. The PTA will order extra shirts and will announce when the shirts are available in the school store (while supplies last).
