MPES Connection
April 17, 2020
Message from Mrs. Mamon
Hello MPES families,
Thank you for another great week of learning at home! I hope that you found the updates to our weekly templates helpful in keeping your child learning and engaged. Please contact me or your child's teacher if you have any questions or need assistance with accessing any of the learning activities.
I would like to remind parents that you have access to student data through PowerSchool. Progress Report information for the third quarter (up to Friday, March 13th) can also be found here. Additionally, the contact information currently in our records can be viewed through this portal by clicking on the Swift K-12 link on the left hand side of the screen. Next, click on the Contact Information link to view your information on file. If you are not receiving at least two communications from the school each week, please check your junk email or make sure that the email address provided to the school is correct. Please email me at stacey.mamon@mpark.net if any contact information needs to be updated. More information can be found here.
Please continue to send pictures of our students learning at home or spending time with their families. I love seeing and sharing them in my newsletters! Snap a picture and send it to me at stacey.mamon@mpark.net.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Stacey Mamon
The biggest community event in Manassas Park turns into a virtual 5k and 1-mile run!
Hundreds of families each year have joined Manassas Park City Schools for its annual Cougar Literacy Run and we want to ensure that despite state-wide closures, our tradition of promoting literacy and wellness for our students continues!
From May 2 - May 10, participants will have the opportunity to choose a day, time, and course for their 5k or 1 mile run. This Spirit Week will encourage students to participate in a reading challenge that includes photos of our awesome readers.
Proceeds from the event will continue to go toward purchasing print and digital resources to enhance literacy and integrate mathematics, science, and social studies learning on our campuses.
Field Trip Payments
All field trip money paid for trips that did not take place due to the school closure will automatically be carried over in students’ accounts to be used for future field trips in the 2020-2021 school year. If you would like to request a refund, please contact your child’s principal. This will begin the process of refunding field trip payments. Please understand that refunds, once requested, may take some time to process due to limited processing capabilities during the shutdown.
At Home Learning In Action
April is School Library Month
MPCS Food Distribution Continues
MPCS is providing prepackaged grab-and-go meals at no charge to all children, age 18 and under. Meal pickup will take place on Tuesdays at the main entrance of Manassas Park High School between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
In order to minimize the number of times parents must bring their children to the distribution site, a weekly set of prepackaged breakfasts and lunches will be provided on Tuesdays. All meals will be the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.
For the safety of everyone, it is important to follow the guidance supplied by our volunteers to maintain safe social distancing practices and vehicle passage.
