Deputy Scott, Our New SRO!
The role of an SRO in an elementary school is to help keep students safe, encourage them, and to educate them about safety. Deputy Scott loves children, and she is excited about getting to know our students. She is already planning to talk to our upper grades about safely crossing the street to the playground.

Jr. Rangers for 3-5th Graders Beginning Next Week; THERE ARE STILL A FEW SPOTS REMAINING
We are very excited about a wonderful after school opportunity for our students. The Tennessee State Parks Jr. Ranger After School Program will be coming to Jack Anderson Elementary. It consists of five one hour sessions. The topics are: outdoor safety, water & plants, wildlife, astronomy, history, and a stewardship activity. For these programs, the leaders bring games, a live snake, pelts, skulls, and other things. The last day, the kids perform a stewardship activity, and they graduate as Jr. Ranger, earning a badge and a certificate.
The sessions are led by interpreters from TN State Parks, with backgrounds in science careers such as biology, geology, wildlife management, and others. This is an opportunity for the kids not only to learn about Tennessee's natural history, but also potential career options as they grow up.
Due to limited space, the Ranger Program can only accept 50 students. I have set up an email account:
If your child is interested, please email me.
I will take the first 50 students who are registered.
Here is how to register:
Email me at jaerangers@gmail.com
List your student's name, grade level, and teacher's name.
By registering your child, you agree to pick your child up in front of the school by 4:45 each afternoon during the 5 days of participation. IF YOUR CHILD IS PART OF THE JAGS TREEHOUSE PROGRAM, we are happy to sign students in at 4:45. Please let me know.

New Tennessee Cell Phone Law
Please be advised that a new law took effect January 1st in Tennessee. The law states that it’s an offense — Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $50 — for a person to knowingly operate a motor vehicle in any marked school zone in this state, when a warning flasher or flashers are in operation, and talk on a hand-held mobile telephone while the vehicle is in motion. However, the offense is not committed if the telephone is equipped with a hands-free device, for drivers 18 years of age and older.
Valentine's Day Reminders
Please do not send balloons or flowers to school for your child. We are unable to accommodate deliveries, and students are unable to transport those items on buses.
