Hough Eats Out

Looking to enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner with all the fixin's AND raise money for Hough at the same time? Houghers, we have your back!

Head to Chipotle in Kildeer on December 17 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm. For every festive turkey burrito you stuff into your taco hole, Chipotle will donate a portion of the sale to Hough! Be sure to show the flyer when ordering!

And, if your pants haven't ripped a stitch afterwards, why not some dessert? Ice Cream Social will also be supporting Hough the same way from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm. For every ice cream you stuff into your taco hole, they will also donate a portion of sale to Hough.

Nothing says Christmas like giving, refried beans and a chocolate shake. Ho ho ho!

Mini Courses

Mini Courses are relatively fun classes children can take throughout the winter to avoid the effects of cabin fever, which include Fortnite addiction, wandering aimlessly around the house asking when dinner will be ready every three minutes and randomized hallucinations. Courses will run from February 24 - March 13 from 2:40 pm - 3:45 pm (2:10 pm - 3:20 pm on Wednesdays) this year.

But without your help, Mini Courses are like school on Saturdays: no class. We need teachers. Teachers skilled in the practice of the Lego Arts. Or juggling. Or ventriloquism. Because we want to open worlds to our kids. Worlds beyond the standard and expected track of a four-year university, followed by graduate school, then followed by a move to San Francisco's over-priced housing market to toil eighty hours a week building a social media platform that may have a net negative effect on society! We want them to learn a little. Dream a little. And imagine the day when they take the stage at Carnegie Hall, juggling or ventriloquisting their hearts out.

Please email the class you'd like to teach and the days you are available. You'll also get a free course and priority registration for your own Hawks. Please email Cassandra Crist at cassandrajc@gmail.com if you would like to participate or have any questions.

Community Happenings

Barrington Stampede

Students from across the Barrington 220 school district are invited to attend Stampede on Wednesday, December 18 at Sunny Hill Elementary School. (NOTE: For the cautious and safety-minded parents of our Hough Community, a clarification. This event will not, this week or in the future, feature an actual stampede. There will be no horses of any size or variety walking, trotting, cantering or galloping.)

This hour-long social experience is focused on 2nd and 3rd graders, but all ages are welcome to participate and help.

Students will enjoy snacks, games and activities while making new friends! Students can be dropped off, but parent volunteers are welcomed (and needed!) as well. Sign up here!
