Maker Space

ELC 7th grade needs YOUR help!

What is Maker Space?

To describe them simply, Maker Spaces are community centers with tools. Maker Spaces combine manufacturing equipment, community, and education for the purposes of enabling students to design, prototype and create manufactured works that wouldn’t be possible to create with the resources available to individuals working alone.

Maker Space provides hands-on creative ways to encourage students to design, experiment, build and invent. Students will have monthly challenges that reflect the Common Core and 21st Century Standards in multiple facets

Here are a few ideas of things we need to make this work.....

1. Everyday-ish:

Empty toilet and paper towel rolls, caps, lids, cereal boxes, shoe boxes, playing cards, newspapers

2. Everyday-ish store bought:

Play doh, duct tape, drinking straws, plastic storage containers, rubber bands, Legos, craft beads, yarn, glue, rolls of newsprint, construction paper, markers, etc..
