Letter from Principal Lowe
August 21, 2020
Dear Elton Gregory Families -
Welcome back to a truly unique year. I think the image below pretty well shows how many communities across the country may be feeling. Redmond and the EGMS community are strong and resilient; I am confident that the teamwork we build between the school and our families is going to result in a successful year. Our school team has worked hard this summer to ensure that your student stays connected, academically engaged, and supported during this school year. Our team is excited to reconnect with our students and we are looking forward to an incredible year!

What will my day look like when school starts?
Scheduling at EGMS
Electives
- Students will not be able to change their electives. What is on their schedule will be what they will stick to.
- Students will not have all of the same elective options as we have had in years past
But... why?
When we return to school in a hybrid model, there are tight regulations about cohorts and how many kids can be in certain places safely. In order to follow these regulations and keep students healthy and safe, we will not be able to make exceptions to this list.

TO DO: Student Verification
If you have not already completed returning student verification, please do so as soon as possible using this link: 20/21 student verification This must be done whether or not you choose to be in Comprehensive Distance Learning or Full-Time Online. This ensures we have the most up to date information in our system.
Nutrition Services
While schools are currently closed due to COVID-19, RSD Nutrition Services will provide meals to students on a “grab and go” basis and we are diligently working on a plan for the fall. As we have more information to share, we will keep families updated. Please consider supporting our school meal programs and stand by for more information about where and when grab and go meals will be available beginning on September 10th, including RSD neighborhood school sites as well as RSD designated bus stops.
We are currently processing Free/Reduced Meal Benefit applications for the 2020-21 school year and encourage you to complete the application at your earliest convenience. Applications may be completed by logging onto https://www.mymealtime.com/ and the file is available to print from our website, http://redmond.k12.or.us/departments/nutrition/, which also provides our contact information should you have any questions.

This is the Platt family Sam, Elizabeth, Louise (6) and Phillip (3). We have had a busy summer. Sam had to work quite a bit preparing for COVID style school but we still managed to get lots of boating, camping, hiking and beaching in!

Hey everyone!
I hope you all are having a restful and fun summer with lots of time with family and outdoor time! I have been trying to get outside as much as possible and have gone on several local backpacking trips and day hikes with my husband and close friends. I've also been spending a lot of time working in my garden and growing my own veggies. It is my first year growing a vegetable garden and I'm pretty excited about the results. Even though we will be virtual when we come back to school, I am really excited to see everyone online! Missing all of you and looking forward to this school year!
