Mesa Update
May 2021
Hello Mesa Families,
Oh my goodness, what a year it has been!!! We appreciate you working with us as we weathered and continue to weather the storm that is COVID. In addition, we have faced and continue to face a number of challenges together. The end of the school year is rapidly approaching and we wanted to touch base with you about a handful of important items and updates.
The days between now and the end of the school year are full with activities and events that we hope will allow us to bring the year to a close in a positive and fun fashion. We are looking to do everything that we typically do at the end of the year, but there will be some modifications due to COVID restrictions. Take a look below for the important dates.
Also, remember that May 3rd through May 7th is educator appreciation week, please thank a Mesa staff member. In addition, we thank you for your help, support, grace and kindness this year!
Thank you for an amazing school year, we have the best students and community around.
Sincerely,
Tony Jackowski
Principal

Girls and Women in Sports
Douglas County School District and the Foundation for Douglas County Schools proudly recognize sports achievements, the positive influence of sports participation, and the continuing effort for equality and access for women in sports. We salute all of our student athletes - past and present - for believing not only in themselves, but that anything is possible. In addition to the athletes, we honor and give thanks to the parents, coaches, and all who support and encourage them.
The inaugural National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) celebration was held in Washington, D.C. in 1987 as a day to remember Olympic volleyball player Flo Hyman for her athletic achievements and her work to ensure equality for women’s sports. This year, the 34th Annual NGWSD is celebrated in all 50 states with community-based events, award ceremonies and activities honoring the achievements and encouraging participation of girls and women in sports.
