Message from your Proud Interim Principal
Dear Parents,
What a wonderful week of learning at Parsons! This was my second week in the building and I had the opportunity to visit several classrooms and attend professional learning sessions. The staff is working extremely hard to incorporate county level changes this year and I have been very impressed with their work. The focus at Parsons is always on the students and that is evident in the daily decisions! We are opening a new second grade class next week that will be led by Mrs. Pam Daniels. She is excited about her new role at Parsons. The students who are moving to her class had the chance to meet her and see their new classroom today.
Thank you to our PTA volunteers who assisted with the Kona Ice reward today. The students who earned this prize had fun selecting the flavor they wanted and spending time with friends while they ate their treat. Thank you to the 4th and 5th grade parents for providing goodies for the staff today. There were two tables full of sweet and salty snacks! The cookies kept calling my name every time I walked through the mailroom! Your support of our daily work is appreciated!
Today is progress report day. Parents should receive an electronic report from the teacher through an email. Please check your email to review your child's progress for the first few weeks of school. If you have any questions, contact your child's teacher.
Please read through the newsletter carefully as many things will be happening in the next few weeks...Fall Break, Picture Day, Early Release Conferences, Reflections, etc... We want you to be as involved as possible with all the events at school. As we welcome the fall season, I hope you are able to get out and enjoy some time with your family and friends over the weekend!
Proud Interim Principal,
Mrs. Wanda F Law
Hispanic Heritage Month
As a school community, we celebrate our diversity and the impact we have on building cultural competency in our community. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we invite you to reflect on the power of our differences and the impact we can make when we unite with shared values and purpose. The national theme, Esperanza: A Celebration of Hispanic Heritage and Hope, challenges us to envision a great future knowing that our hope and resilience can lead us there. Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the achievements and contributions of Hispanic Americans. The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988. The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for the Latin American countries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we will students share on the morning announcements the achievements and acknowledgements of Hispanic Americans who have contributed to our Nation. We will also have students share about the Hispanic culture and points of pride about their culture.

Today was the Kona Ice party for those who donated $50 or more to the PTA fundraiser. We hope all the students enjoyed their tasty treat!!
The next PTA fundraiser reward will be Party Bus to the Park next Friday, September 30 for students who donated $200 or more. Permission slips were emailed and sent home to every qualifying child.
