The Digestive System
By Kyla & Ari
Functions Of The Digestive System
1. Teeth tongue and saliva moisten the food.
2. Your food is pushed down the esophagus.
3. Your stomach acids break down the food.
4. Your large and small intestines suck the nutrients out of the food.
5. The rectum creates feces also known as poop.
How The Digestive System Works With The Muscular System:
1. The muscles in the esophagus push down the food.
2. The muscles in the small & large intestine push the food through.
3. The muscles in the mouth (the tongue) help the food back.
4. Whenever the muscles push the food it goes through the digestive system.
5. If we did not have muscles the food would stay in your mouth forever!
What Can Go Wrong?
1. If you don't chew, you could choke on the food.
2. If you don't eat nutritious foods, your system won't go on properly because there will be no nutrients to be absorbed into the body.
