A BALANCING ACT
A New Normal!
When my mother passed away in 2011, Marta Pantoja shared with me a bit of wisdom - succinct and unforgettable. "Mrs. Turner, life will get back to normal; but it will be a new normal."
Adding Just One!
A metaphor limns another image. Life was fine before you purchased your new vehicle; then new financial decisions had to be made, which changed some previous practices. You tightened your spending to compensate for the new expense because you needed the car and you liked your new car. You ignored the pain of the lopsided principal/interest reality, such as a $397.25 interest part of the $412.11 payment. In time, nonetheless, the payment - unchanged - transformed into just a responsibility minus the burden. While still making the payments and wondering how you could have gotten along without your car, the principal increased; the interest decreased. In due time, the pink slip arrived in the mail. (Maybe you are still waiting for the pink slip!)
So, it is with intercalating teaching into a life that was stable. Though life now seems unbalanced and though you feel discombobulated, you are in the process of growing, of adjusting to one new entity with its responsibilities. And, life will get back to normal but . . . a new normal.
