Skyview Upper Elementary School
The first days at Skyview...
We hope your children have been sharing information about their school day! Our teams have engaged in a variety of team building activities and students are now getting into the swing of their school year routine at Skyview. All students received a daily schedule. The grade levels participated in welcome back assemblies where we reviewed our pillars of Character Counts (Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship) and spoke about school-wide behavior expectations. Overall our students have done a great job with cafeteria and dismissal procedures.
We look forward to seeing parents at our annual Back-to-School nights - Tuesday, September 13th (grade 6 - 7 p.m.) and Thursday, September 15th (grade 5 - 7 p.m.) Informational flyers regarding these events were sent home with students on 9/8/16.

Morning Student Drop-Off
Please note that parent drop-off of students occurs in the back of our building (by the gymnasium.) We ask that families who drop students off in the morning help us to maintain the safety of this area by noting the following:
- Please do not drop students off prior to 8:30 a.m. (Supervision is not available - students should remain in vehicles until 8:30 a.m.)
- Please pull forward all the way along the curb (a Skyview staff member will assist with directing traffic.) By pulling all the way forward in the line we can efficiently get students on their way to class. (Driver should remain in car when student exits.)
- Please do not "pull around" cars when exiting - this creates a dangerous traffic scenario (and we have had some near misses with this!)
- Please do not park in the lot. The drop off area works most efficiently when cars are in line, moving all the way forward and remaining in line as they exit.
The safety of our students, staff and families is our priority. We appreciate everyone's assistance in helping the drop-off/pick-up area to run smoothly.
PILLARIFIC at Skyview
This week we recognized our first group of "pillarific" students! Staff members and students have the opportunity to recognize Skyview community members for demonstrating good behavior/actions in a pillar area (trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, citizenship.) Students recognized have their names announced during Friday morning announcements and sign our school pillar scrolls.
This week's students are pictured above with Mrs. VanBuren, Skyview 5th grade counselor.
