Pinehill School News
2 June 2021 - Week 5, Term 2
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora tatou,
We are all very much looking forward to the School Disco tomorrow evening. The theme is ‘Black and White’. The children are very excited about ending the short school week with a good old dance or two in the school hall. A sleep in can ensue as it is a short week for our students. School is closed on Friday 4th June for our Teacher Only Day. This Teacher Only Day is aligned with our Kahui Ako schools. Staff will be involved in professional learning throughout the day.
Every two years we reach out to our school community for feedback on our Pinehill School Health curriculum.
This process allows us to be able to ensure that our health curriculum meets the needs of our students. We are seeking parent/caregiver feedback as part of the consultation process.
To provide feedback on the current health and physical education programme, please click the link. The survey will remain open until Wednesday 9th June 2021.
I appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback and suggestions.
Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini
Success is not the work of one but the work of many.
Ngā mihi nui,
Carla Veldman, Principal

Board News
The Board of Trustees recently met for our first meeting of Term 2. We were lucky enough to have two sets of presentations during the meeting that focused on the following key areas:
1. We were grateful to have each of the team leaders attend to present data on how all of our students are tracking academically. Data from both in class testing (Years 1-3) and from NZ standardised PAT tests (Progressive Achievement Tests) for Years 4-6 were presented. The results to date show some fantastic achievements by our students and teachers. Each of the team leaders shared their data stories for their year group and next steps for raising student achievement.
2. We also discussed the school's 10 year property plan, and with the help of a consultant, are working through the school's key needs and priorities. These priorities are broken into 3 categories:
Priority 1 - Health and Safety
Priority 2 - Infrastructure
Priority 3 - Environment - design, quality and working spaces
The Board will continue to update the school community on property plans and projects as they are approved by the Ministry of Education for funding.
Just a reminder that we were elected by you to represent the school community, so please get in touch if you have any feedback via email board@pinehill.school.nz.

Yummy Stickers
We are collecting “Yummy” stickers from apples, nectarines, peaches and pears, and bar codes from bags of “Yummy” fruit. This is a year long promotion, stickers are exchanged for sports equipment for the school. All stickers and bar codes need to be stuck onto the official forms which can be downloaded from www.yummyfruit.co.nz. Please return forms to the drop box when you have filled them up.
FFF & SFF Snack Price Increase
FOPS is committed in bringing yummy and affordable snacks to our children. However due to continuous supplier price increases, we can no longer keep our current prices. Effective from 11th June, Juicies will be sold at $2.50 each and Potato Chips will be sold at $2 each. Cookies will remain at $1 each. Please do communicate with your child about this change. We appreciate your help, understanding and support!Pinehill School PTA - Friends of Pinehill School
