Disney Digest

Volume 1 Issue 22

Greetings, Disney Families!!

Each spring, Disney 3rd-5th graders participate in the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) Grade-Level Assessments. This battery of assessments evaluate students’ progress toward the Missouri Learning Standards and provide valuable information to help our school evaluate programs and progress.

Please see the schedule below for the specific days and times that your child will be testing. It is very important that students arrive to school on time and are present each day during testing--and always!

You may consider having a special healthy breakfast on these days, and inspiring your child with a "pep talk" each morning. Below, you will find other easy ways to prepare your child for these days.

The MAP Assessment is the "Super Bowl" of education, so to speak, for our students--the opportunity to show off what they've learned all year! Thank you so much for helping to excite your child for this opportunity! We appreciate your support so much.

Sincerely,

Carol Furman

How Can Prepare My Child For Testing Days?

  • Be aware of the testing schedule.

  • Each day, send your child to school with a fully charged Chromebook and a book to read when they are done testing.

  • Be certain that your child has had adequate rest (this may mean getting them used to an earlier bed time before the week of testing).

  • Be on time for school.

  • Avoid scheduling appointments that can be done at a later date.

  • Dress your child in layered clothing. This way, the child may add clothing to get warmer or remove some clothing to be cooler.

  • Have a positive attitude

Debby Seler, Paraprofessional

Debby Seler is our newest paraprofessional to join the Disney team! She was born in Corning, NY. She attended college in East Providence, RI and received her Masters Degree from Evangel University. Internationally, she has lived in Madrid, Spain, Mandeville, Jamaica and San Jose, Costa Rica. Debby has been married 42 years, has two children, and is Grammy to 2-year old Rosie! She loves playing the piano, riding bike, coffee shops and bookstores. Debby's desire to work at Disney began when she drove by and saw the positive messages on our marquee! Our positive, caring community has lived up to her expectations! She encourages the children to learn and remember that they are braver than they believe, stronger than they seem, smarter than they think, and twice as beautiful as they’ve ever imagined! (Dr. Seuss)
