High School Science Olympiad Team competes at UGA Science Olympiad Invitational
FSA sent two teams to the Invitational at the University of Georgia on Saturday, October 26, 2019.
Saturday was a busy day at UGA, as UGA also hosted their annual High School Math Tournament. We are so proud and thankful for Charlie and Brad, two of our seniors, who are on both the Science Olympiad team and the Math team. They did a full day of competition at the UGA Math Tournament and then sprinted across campus to compete with their Science Olympiad teammates for the last two hours of the UGA Science Olympiad Invitational. Their teamwork and joy of competition truly embody the FSA Spirit!
The young, small FSA Team 1 had a solid finish, placing 11th overall out of 45 registered teams. With 7 events in top ten, and another 12 events that ranked in the teens, FSA once again demonstrated that consistency is key, beating many larger, more experienced teams.
Coach Oliver was heard to say “These early season invitationals are a great opportunity to see both our strengths and our weaknesses and because it is just October there is still plenty of time to make improvements across all the events”.
Notable Achievements:
Anatomy
- 3rd Place – Ashi and Shivam
Designer Genes
- 5th Place - Ashi and Shivam
Geologic Mapping
- 7th Place - Nick and Shivam
The High School Science Olympiad team has two invitational tournaments coming up in January and February before they go to their Regional Tournament on March 7th, 2020. The top 30 teams in the state will be competing at the State Science Olympiad Tournament at Emory University on April 4, 2020.

Important Message from Atlanta Lunch Company
Hi Atlanta Families,
If you have not ordered for November you will not have ordered a lunch for your student this Friday - ordering for this Friday is on theNOVEMBER menu and not the October menu.
Our orders for Friday are extremely low and we are sending this email in an attempt to minimize the number of hungry kids, prevent schools from scrambling to feed kids who do not have a lunch or phoning parents to bring a lunch.
To place an order, please select the corresponding blue ORDER button for "NOVEMBER MENU 2019" to get your orders in for Friday.
- If you had previously placed your orders in October, you would not have seen a menu available on Friday.
- Additionally, if you have placed November orders into your shopping cart, this is also a friendly reminder to process those invoices TODAY to guarantee that your order for this Friday is processed in time.
Click here for a direct link to our ordering website to get started or visit us at https://www.atlantalunch.com/.
As always, feel free to contact us at hello@atlantalunch.com or 678.390.2666 if you have questions. We are here to help!
Have a great rest of your week!

Home Visits; A Great Activity for Your Student, No Matter Their Grade Level!
Here is some feedback from our parents:
- “Early in the school year, a group of teachers took the time to come to our home to meet us and discuss the school program with us. That event brought us back to the time in which schooling was a true partnership between parent and teacher and reaffirmed in our minds that FSA truly cares about the development of our children”
- “We even had two teachers visit us at our home. They were a pleasure to meet and we could clearly see how much they enjoy teaching students.”
- “Thank you very much for your visit and the chocolates yesterday. We enjoyed having you over very much. I also want to thank you for turning math from the most complicated and somewhat scary subject into one of our most favorites.”
- “We all enjoyed your visit last night to our home. It was such a pleasure to informally get to know both of you. My son thought it was really cool that two teachers came to his house. He talked about it the whole way to school this morning in carpool. Personally, I admire the dedication you both have for your jobs. It makes a big difference in a student’s attitude toward school. Your visit left no doubt in my mind that FSA was the right decision for my son.”
- “I just wanted to write on behalf of my husband and I and thank you for visiting our child. He loved having you both come and visit. We appreciate the level of caring and attention that you have consistently shown our family. It is rare to see such a dedication from teachers for their jobs. We can tell that you love teaching and you care for our children. Thank you for visiting our child when he was not feeling well.”
How can I schedule a home visit?
Very simple.
To schedule an elementary school home visit: Simply email junal@fultonscienceacademy.org with some suggested dates/times, as well as your students' name(s) and homeroom assignments. Ms. Unal will be in touch to confirm final details.
To schedule a middle or high school school home visit: Simply email sduman@fultonscienceacademy.org with some suggested dates/times, as well as your students' name(s) and homeroom assignments. Mr. Duman will be in touch to confirm final details.
Depending on our teacher’s availability, at least two teachers will be together to visit our students and parents at their homes. The best times to schedule a home visit are weekdays after 5:00 pm, and anytime during the weekends, except Sunday mornings. For any questions you have about this program, send an e-mail to homevisit@fultonscienceacademy.org
