Nuts & Bolts
Week of March 5, 2018
Wow!
My first Literacy Week at MMA was awesome! I was impressed each day by the creative activities and the high level of student engagement and enjoyment. I can't believe we fit all of that into one week and it went super smoothly. Literacy Night was especially impressive. I heard so much excellent feedback and loved the way that this event connected families to our school on a personal level.
Thank you for your participation and effort. A big thank you goes out to the literacy week committee for planning an amazing week and especially to Kacee for organizing all of these moving parts. This year's committee included: Marleen, Kirsten, Kari, Shilo Joy, and two junior high students, Jaycie and Camren. Thank you for all your feedback about improving the process for next year. If you’re interested in joining the Literacy Committee to help plan next year, please email Kacee.
Your passion shined last week! Have a wonderful week!

If you still have an ISHI book, please return it to the library asap.
Immediate / Emergency Assistance
If you need assistance with a child who is out of control, is being a danger to themselves or others, and does not have an IEP, please call or walkie the office. An available administrator or instructional team member will respond to the situation. Clear the classroom if that is what is necessary to keep all involved safe.

Name Change - New Requirements
Helpside has new requirements for name changes (marriage, divorce, etc.) that we wanted to make you aware of.
When an employee has a name change Helpside needs the following documents:
- An updated social security card
- This is to verify they have legally changed their name
- A new W-4 form to match the social security card
- A new I-9 form or if we have the most recent form on file we can send that to you to have you update section 3.
- Reason for the name change (example: marriage certificate or divorce decree).
Please see April if you have additional questions.
Taking Responsibility for Our School
Guns in School
If someone has a concealed carry permit in Utah, they may concealed carry in any school. The gun has to be on their person at all times and if it is in a purse, it needs to be always held by the person. No one (except law enforcement and a few select others) may open carry a gun in a school. If you feel in danger at any time, call the police immediately and then call the office to let us know what is happening. If you do not feel as though you are in immediate danger, but are uncomfortable and have questions, please call the office for assistance.
