The privilege of Being an Educator-Terra Tominelli Founder
I am grateful for being a teacher because….
Being a teacher is a privilege and an honor. Teaching is about offering hope all day long and being available to encourage, create and design learning opportunities that have an impact. I also feel it is about creating a learning culture that is open to the world where all learners can connect, take risks, share their voice and have friends.
Today I am thinking about my own path and reflecting on an amazing year of growth. I have much to be grateful for. As a teacher and Founder, I have the ability to help promote empathy, patience, risk-taking, acceptance, and collaboration. These are ideas that I think are important to think about as I weave a multitude of learning opportunities throughout the day.
So for today…..
I hope…
to inspire ideas through inquiry and passion.
to learn more about “how to” create opportunities globally for my students. Culture is rich everywhere and I want to find ways to connect and celebrate what the world has to offer.
to be a part of solution based problem-solving opportunities where I am able to share my #edvoice in hopes of making education better.
to collaborate with others around making a difference.
to learn alongside my amazing parents and teachers which hopefully will just keep on growing.
to have my thinking challenged through opportunities that present themselves.
to explore nature often with my students. Nature is full of patterns, fresh air and authentic opportunities to learn about the natural world.
to be able to continue to mentor others who are interested in becoming a teacher. Teaching is an art and through our ideas, we have opportunities to “paint” and “weave” all day.
I will….
create and design meaningful learning opportunities alongside my students because this is the heart of my work, where I have and can make an impact.
model and practice daily “how to” have conversations using a variety of tools that will help my students connect, reflect and ask questions.
listen with an open mind and value perspective. This is vital for all of us to be able to collaborate globally to make a difference to solve world problems.
bring a smile and gratitude daily to build confidence and trust inside/outside of Preschool-First Grade. Through our ability to accept each other, we develop patience and experience the value of kindness.
show gratitude for former and present families that I have the privilege of knowing who give their time, energy, enthusiasm and support in endless ways.
be transparent in my thinking and use a variety of digital tools to create bridges globally to help solve world problems to make a difference.
pursue new ideas and revisit previous ideas from a different perspective.
make mistakes and experience them as learning opportunities, opportunities for me to grow and have my perspective enhanced.
offer invitations to learn alongside others who are learning how to learn for themselves. This is where I can encourage, question and reflect.
celebrate and recognize others for their ideas and work. Together we all have the ability to be brilliant and make a difference.
Looking forward to another year of connecting, collaboration, inspiration and growth. Thanks to all of you who are a part of my journey. I hope you all are able to dance, sing and laugh often….
I am grateful…..
Miss Terra
It's Never Goodbye, Just Ciao For Now
Our journey and wonder in learning labs this week.
Another month has passed by right before our eyes. As some of our Junior Kindergartners wrapped up their school year this week and as the rest of us prepare for the end of our school year we are inspired to reflect on the school year. We have grown together, laughed together, cried together, explored new things, created original ideas and build strong lasting relationships. The month of June for students will be a time of reflecting on some projects that they liked based over the school year and revisiting or taking time to something we didn't do. With the very warm weather approaching, we will still have time outside however we will rotate between indoor activities to keep cool. We hope that everyone enjoyed this school year as much as we did! The best way to show your support of the teaching team and the school is to take a few minutes to leave a review on Facebook or Google and remember parent referrals are the most meaningful to new families.
Ciao!

Blast Off To Mars!
Do you know of this unique opportunity for students and their families? Nasa is flying a rover up to Mars, and with some of the recent spacecraft they have sent up, they include a memory card with people's name on it. When you visit this website simply fill out your child's name and email address, then they receive a boarding pass. It's their ticket to Mars! Their name will literally travel inside a giant robot, fly in a rocket ship and permanently live on Mars for future astronauts to find. There is also an educational page on this upcoming mission under the tab "learn".

Summer Library Program!!!! A Universe of Stories: Space Exploration
A Universe of Stories: Space Exploration!
The program runs every summer within the local library systems with a different theme each year between July and August. The focus will be on exploring distant galaxies, living on the moon and discovering our solar system. There will be learning stations for the children to examine meteorites, create planetary art and discover new books to read about space. For the adults, a very special hands-on project building a piece that will ultimately become a display for the library! It's going to be a fantastic time and there will even be some NASA swag to take home :)
This program is sign up only, so check with your local libraries. Below is a list of the libraries that will be participating so far. Though the dates and times have been discussed, they are still being set and put into the library's online system. It is much easier to go to your local library to sign up.

Grazie from All of Us!!!
Dear Parent Tribe,
We are writing this letter to express our deepest appreciation to all our students and their parents that recently reminded us of why we love our job as early childhood educators and why we feel so very blessed to be teaching at TerraNichol Academy Of The Arts school and some of us being a part of the wonderful intern/volunteer teaching program as a teaching campus. Each of you truly is a testimony of what is positive about our school and the program.
To each of the parents, we cannot begin to express our gratitude to each of you for allowing us the privilege of being a part of the teaching team and entrusting us with your child/children. Your love and support for these children are refreshing. We can honestly say, that each one of these students has taught us as much as we hope we have taught them.
Thank you for making Teacher Appreciation Week so very special. We enjoyed all the pampering and being spoiled for the week. We wanted everyone to know how sincerely grateful we are for your thoughtfulness and kind words. Thank you for thinking of the teaching team.
Warm Regards,
Terra Tominelli-Founder
