The Cutting Edge

September 2019

Wednesday, September 11 is Patriot Day

Governor Eric Holcomb is directing flags across the state to be flown at half-staff in honor of Patriot Day on September 11. This is also in remembrance of the victims of the attacks on September 11, 2001.

Students may wear red, white, and blue and show their patriotism.

Goodies With Grandparents

TPA will be hosting Goodies with Grandparents on Thursday, September 12 (Last names beginning with A-L) and Friday, September 13 (Last names beginning with M-Z). If your child does not have a grandparent available, another special person is welcome to bring your child. In addition, the last names are only recommendations. If your last name starts with an A but you can only come on Friday, you are welcome. Please just come on whatever day works best for your family. I will apologize up front, parking will be difficult. We also have sidewalk construction on Beck Lane so bring your patience and a smile.

School Safety is our Top Priority

I would like to kindly notify you of a school board policy that has previously not been enforced at Edgelea, but we will begin implementing starting Monday, August 26th.

Now that we are beginning the fourth week of school, parents should not be walking students to their classrooms. This is the Lafayette School Corporation policy. It is listed in our board approved elementary student handbooks as it states, "After the first week of school, parents need to drop students off at the arrival door. For the safety of all students, parents must follow the the school's arrival and dismissal policies."

We have many staff members ready and available to help support your child when they enter our building. Thank you for understanding that your child's safety is our top priority. All Lafayette Schools will be implementing this policy for the 2019-2020 school year.
