Middle School Fundraiser Success!

THANK YOU to KMS families, teachers, staff, and volunteers for supporting the Middle School Fundraiser! Together, all four Bellingham middle school PTSAs raised about $45,000. We could not have done it without YOU. Congratulations to the three 1st period classes that had 100% student participation! Ms. Ingersoll, Ms. Capper, and Ms. Shepherd’s classes won a waffle party. Another HUGE thanks to these teachers and students. We also appreciate the wonderful volunteers that helped make the party a success!

Counselor Corner

For October and November counselors are talking to 6th and 7th grade students about the Mood Meter. We will be talking with students about identifying their emotions on the "mood meter", creating "emotion goals" based on different settings, coming up with strategies to get back to "the school zone", talking about how the body responds to stress and how to deal with feelings of anxiety, as well as other social-emotional topics. We will create some class level "mood meters" and strategy charts that they can refer to when faced a difficult situation. The counselors are also working with 8th grade teachers to create lessons around stress, anxiety, depression, how we can deal with those feelings, and help friends that might be dealing those feelings. These lessons will be delivered in students MAP classes in November and December. The school year has gotten off to a great start this year, we are super excited to be in the classrooms talking with students and we look forward to the conversations that come through these lessons!
