HCSD Announcement
Important Update COVID-19 3.6.20
March 6, 2020
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you for your attention to this additional COVID-19 communication. Please continue reading for an important update.
Last night, Dr. Scott Morrow, MD, MPH, Public Health Officer of the San Mateo Health Department, shared this updated message to our county, which provides an honest recommendation to prepare, as COVID-19 will remain with us for the foreseeable future. Dr. Morrow further explains that school closures are not something for which he is currently advocating; however, school closures may be needed in the future to prevent further spread of the virus. At this time, all HCSD schools are open.
HCSD is navigating this outbreak by doing the following:
Each of our schools is being “disinfected” through deep cleaning twice a week by our evening custodial staff.
Our Maintenance Department continues to support the cleaning and disinfecting of all learning and common areas.
All HCSD staff met yesterday in planning for possible school closures by developing protocols and procedures for remote learning options.
Should our schools need to close in the future, it would help us to know about the devices you have at home and the ability of your children to access the Internet. Crocker students already have district provided Chromebooks, but we would like to gather information from K-5 parents. Please complete this Google Survey form on K-5 home technology access as soon as possible.
While schools will remain open, Dr. Morrow does recommend the cancellation of “all non-essential gatherings.” As such, the Hillsborough Schools Foundation (HSF) in consultation with the Santa Clara Health Department, Levi’s Stadium and the school district has made the decision to cancel/reschedule “The Ballers Gala” planned for March 14th. More information will be emailed from HSF to all ticket holders later today.
We will continue to closely monitor the rapidly evolving situation in our area. I’m grateful for the support of our HCSD educators who continue to be by my side to make the necessary decisions in real time that keep our children safe. Please continue to refer to HCSD COVID-19 FAQ for the latest information.
