Course Selection Process
Beginning Tuesday, March 7th at 2:30 pm the online request portal in PowerSchool will open for you to enter their course requests for the 2023 - 2024 school year. The portal will close on Wednesday, March 15th at 5:00 pm. Below are important links to the Program of Studies, PowerSchool instructions, and the Scheduling Documents/Timelines.
In addition, to assist you in making well-informed decisions, we have a helpful Time Management Calculator below. We encourage you to use this document when selecting courses to help outline the amount of time you are spending on all of your various commitments. We encourage you to review all the links below before making your course selections.
Over the past week, your teachers at the high school have submitted recommendations for you into PowerSchool. Our teachers are invested in this process and work collaboratively with their first semester colleagues when discussing the appropriate placement for you (if applicable). Teachers recommend courses and levels that both challenge you but that also offers you the best opportunity for success. We strongly encourage you to consider your teacher’s recommendations when signing up for courses. However, if you have not been recommended to take a course you were hoping to enroll in, please complete the Override Consideration form located in the Scheduling Documents/Timelines link below. You will be allowed one override request. Override forms are due by Friday, March 17th.
Please note that course requests can be entered from both the parent and student portal, but the data entered in one will overwrite the other. We recommend you collaborate with your parents and only enter requests under one account. And again, actually picking courses begins next Tuesday. If you have any questions, please contact your school counselor.

MCAS Infrastructure Trial
In preparation for the MCAS ELA tests, which will take place beginning on March 28th and 29th, we will be conducting an infrastructure trial. The purpose of this trial is to better ensure that all technical issues are resolved prior to the actual test administration. This will occur on Thursday, March 9th during Flex block
Students should report to the following locations based on your last name, unless you have received notification of testing in a different location:
10th graders
Cafeteria = A - F AC = G - Keeler A322 = Kelley - Longman A112 = Lotti - Moody A312 = Morse - Paharik A309 = Pandian - Renjith A104 = Rivard - Sridharan A323 = Srodawa - Vela-Garcia A316 = Venkatram - Zinnack
In an effort to better ensure that the trial runs as smoothly as possible, please review the following reminders:
-Check that you have the Test Nav app on your computer. You can find this by accessing your launchpad and searching for Test Nav. If it is not present, please check in your HPS Self Service app and update your computer.
-If you have Siri enabled, please disable it during the testing window
-You should be upgraded to the new macOS Catalina before the MCAS testing dates to prevent any issues that could arise from having outdated macOS versions.
-It is also important that your device is charged and in good working condition. You will not be able to have other things open (i.e. Chrome, etc) while utilizing the Test Nav app.
-If you bring your own device, please use this link to install Test Nav on your computer. We will also have devices for you to use with this already installed.
Please let Mr. Pominville know if you have any questions or if you need any additional information. Thank you.
HHS Drama Ensemble
On December 12, 2022 the Libyan intelligence operative suspected of making the bomb that blew up a Pan Am passenger jet over Lockerbie Scotland in 1988 was arrested and extradited to the United States to stand trial. For many of the drama students it was the first they had heard of the terrorist bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, but it provided a bit of context for the play they were planning to audition for a few weeks later. The Women of Lockerbie, an award winning play written by Deborah Brevoort, takes the audience to the hills of Lockerbie seven years after the bombing and tells the story of a group of women fighting U.S. government bureaucracy to accomplish a stunningly simple, humane goal: washing and returning the clothes of the crash victims to their families. Cast and Crew have been hard at work since January 4th to bring this story to life.
Performances are March 9 at 4 PM and March 10 & 11 at 7 PM in the HHS Auditorium. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors and can be purchased at the door or beginning February 20, online by clicking here. Additional information including the cast list and program information can be found on the HHS Drama Website.
Please Note: This play is not recommended for young children as some of the language is graphic.

There is interest in forming a "Justice for Ukraine" that discusses the war in Ukraine. The country has experienced a significant amount of hate and violence in the last year. The goal of the club would be to raise awareness and prevent normalization of the war, and hopefully organize fundraising events, the costs of which would go to the fight for peace and justice in Ukraine. There will be an initial interest meeting to find potential members this Monday, March 6th at 2:30 in room A205. Slava Ukraini!
