Western Boone eLearning Day

Information for Parents

Parent Expectations

Western Boone County Community School Corporation utilizes eLearning Days for both planned and inclement weather days. Planned days will be used to provide staff development, whereas inclement weather days will be unscheduled and determined as necessary. For inclement weather eLearning days, parents will still be notified by 6:00 AM. Students will be recorded as present when school work is completed within the designated period of time.

Important Information

Scheduled eLearning Days will occur corporation-wide on the following days:

  • September 22
  • November 24
  • January 26

Prior to the first eLearning day, students will experience eLearning lesson(s) delivered via Canvas, our digital learning management system. For students in grades K-4, the username and password for Canvas will be shared prior to the first eLearning day. Students in grades 5-12 will use the unique username and password that they previously created for their Canvas account.

On scheduled eLearning days, classwork for students in Grades K-12 will be posted online in Canvas by 3:00 p.m. the afternoon before an eLearning Day. Teachers will be available via email during designated hours to respond to questions from students and parents. Students will have three (3) school days at Western Boone and for elementary students will need to complete assignments by the following Sunday at midnight. Student assignments will be graded similarly to in-class work.

Computers

For scheduled eLearning days, elementary students in grades K-6 will bring home their laptops to complete their eLearning assignments. The laptops will need to return with the student the following day.

Unscheduled eLearning Days will be utilized in the event of unexpected school closures, such as inclement weather. Parents will be notified through School Messenger of unscheduled eLearning days by 6:00 AM. On unscheduled eLearning days, assignments will be posted in Canvas by 9:00 AM. If school is closed after a two-hour delay was originally scheduled, assignments will be posted by 10:00 AM. Teachers will be available from 9:00-3:00 via email to respond to questions from parents and students. Like scheduled eLearning assignments, students will have five (5) school days to complete eLearning assignments. Student assignments will be graded similarly to in-class work.
