Glendale PTSA Falcon FLYER
Glendale's PTSA Quarterly Newsletter, Fall 2021
Letter from the Principal
Dear Glendale Families,
Welcome to the 2021-22 school year! I want to take a moment to share some updates with you as parents and guardians of our Glendale students. We currently have 1,458 Falcons, and our goal is to make sure that every one of our students has a positive student experience at Glendale. Students and teachers have started this year with excitement, joy, and a lot of hard work. Our goal is that we can work as a team to ensure that your student experiences success both academically and socially this school year.
As first quarter comes to a close, please check your student's grades through eSchool Home Access. We will continue to send D/F phone calls and texts every other week, and then four consecutive weeks to end each semester. If you have questions about your student's grades, please reach out to our teachers. Parent/Teacher conferences will be Thursday, October 28th from 3:00-7:00 PM. Please call 523-8900 or email your student’s teachers to schedule one or more conferences. Teachers will utilize time after school that week.
It is a great honor and privilege to be the principal at Glendale High School. You and your student matter to me, and the entire team here. Thank you for the amazing support that you show to our school each and every day. GO FALCONS and remember that Flock IS Family!

Letter from the PTSA President
Happy October!
My name is Katie Vance, and I’m so excited to be serving as your GHS PTSA President for 2021-2022! I have 2 students at Glendale, a Sophomore, and a Senior, and I have been involved with GHS PTSA for 4 years. I am thrilled to be working with amazing committee chairs and a wonderful executive board! Thank you to our officers, Meredith Sargent, President-Elect; Emily Givens, VP Membership; Tori Sallee, Secretary; and Juli Tarbet, Treasurer, for giving your time to our GHS PTSA!
(picture below)
The 2021-22 school year is in full swing, and your GHS PTSA has been busy supporting students and teachers at Glendale!
~ Our Staff Appreciation Committee has been amazing! They put together a Back-to-School lunch from Goodcents, Nicola’s/Maso & Andy’s for our teachers and staff in August and provided a delicious lunch from St. Michael’s in October. I truly appreciate Sara Cook, Alison Brawner, Monica GIlardi, Dana Kuntz, and Courtney Yake’s dedication to our teachers and staff! Also thank you to all who donated drinks and desserts - our staff and teachers loved them! (pictures below)
~ Our Spirit Committee has also been working hard supporting The Flock and Flock Leaders at Glendale sporting events! They have had many fun & creative themes in August & September and will be doing PINK OUT and PURPLE OUT for the last 2 home football games in October. Thank you to Jill Long, Jennifer Feurbacher and their committee for keeping our Falcons Flying!
~ The Clothing Bank is open for donations and shopping! They need men’s coats & gloves; junior size jeans (size 0-3/4); and NEW socks and underwear. Donations can be taken to either Wash House location in Springfield, 1755 East Bennett or 3322 South Campbell or to the Clothing Bank at Study Alternative Center, 2343 West Olive. Glendale’s day to volunteer is November 11th. Thank you to Lisa Wade for all you do!
~Our Capital Campaign committee kicked off 2021-22 by offering GHS PTSA DISCOUNT CARDS - please see our ad in this newsletter! These cards are a win-win! They save you money while supporting GHS PTSA! Capital Campaign is the main fundraiser for the GHS PTSA, and all funds go back to the support of our students and teachers! Be on the lookout for letters coming to your mailbox in November! Thank you to Sarah Bowman for your hard work!
~ Our PTSA Membership drive started in August. Thank you to those who joined at Open House and thank you to Emily Givens & Gina Wise for your support! If you have not joined, we would LOVE to have you join GHS PTSA! Please see the Membership update in this newsletter for more information!
~ And on that note, thanks to your support of GHS PTSA, our Acquisitions Committee has recently granted $1,280 to our teachers - including an Apple TV for the library, scripts for Drama, choir Christmas program sponsorship, and materials for the Science organic garden high tunnel rebuild. Thank you to Janel Nibert for your work on this!
We are so blessed to have such an amazing school family at Glendale, and I am delighted to be your President again this year. If you have any questions, please contact me at glendaleptsa@gmail.com or via Facebook message.
Thank you so much for all y’all do for Glendale!
Sincerely,
Katie Vance
