Superintendent's Update - 9.23.2022
Dear CPS Community,
Last night at 9:04 p.m. marked the official start of Fall in new England with much welcomed warm days and cooler nights. The Fall season brings with it the official transition to winter where daylight becomes noticeably different leading us to the Winter Solstice in December. There will be many traditional Fall activities and events in the days and weeks ahead; I hope you are able to partake in some of these fun festivities with your families.
I am pleased to report we had another wonderful week in the district with many events, including open houses and sporting events as we enter the last week of September. If you have not had a chance to participate or are looking for a way to become involved with our schools, I encourage you to reach out and join your school’s PTO. Our school PTOs are a great way to learn more about the happenings in our school community and allow you to be part of creating and conducting activities that enhance our students’ educational experience. Please visit the PTO page on our CPS website for individual school PTO contact information.
Traffic Alert – When planning for next week, families with students and staff members at the Harrington, Parker, and Chelmsford High Schools are advised Chelmsford DPW will begin their road milling and paving project on Graniteville Road next Wednesday, September 28th. The road work on Graniteville Road will take place on Wednesday (9/28), Thursday (9/29), and Friday (9/30), weather permitting. The project will run from the Graniteville Road @ Davis Road intersection and continue to Graniteville Road @ School Street. The area around the schools is expected to be impacted, particularly on Wednesday. The Chelmsford Police Department will have detail officers in place and do everything possible to allow school bus and commuter traffic to flow with minimal interruption. The school department is working closely with the bus company to minimize disruption in routes to the schools. Please keep an eye out for additional notifications and plan additional time for pick-up and drop off-times in this area next week.
Please have a wonderful weekend, I look forward to connecting next week.
Yours truly,
Jay Lang, Ed.D.
