November Update
What happened in October?
The STEM Connect students planned an appreciation event for National Chocolate Day. Students took orders, then packaged and delivered individualized bags of goodies to the junior high staff. All of our students had the opportunity to attend the virtual national FFA convention this year. Students attended interactive student workshops, live sessions, explored the career expo and gamed in the Blue Room.
Students also competed in career development events this month. Mikalyn D'Amore and Vesta Miller competed in the state agricultural soils CDE, while Dom Nickoli, Maddie Rea and Jake Zajkowski completed in the urban soils CDE. Jake Zajkowski placed 1st in Lucas County in the job interview division 4 CDE. He will move onto the district CDE in November.
National FFA Convention
Mikalyn D'Amore and Lily Fries were Agriscience Fair finalists. Mikalyn researched the correlation between banana storage environments and browning rates. Lily researched the agricultural literacy knowledge of Lucas County junior high students, and how a short informative video affected their knowledge.
