Dragon Families,

Big picture

We appreciate Ms. Winners!

This week is National School Counseling Week so I wanted to focus your attention on the unique contribution Ms. Winners makes to Dealey. Ms. Winners is in her 3rd year at Dealey, prior to coming here she was a counselor and teacher at other DISD elementary schools. Ms. Winners supports both students and adults with interpersonal relationships, social emotional learning, and academic development. She demonstrates excellence in her expertise, team work, problem solving, and support. She truly makes a difference every day!

Lillard, The Science Behind the Genius

Ms. Parrish, Ms. Henderson, Ms. Chandler and I attended Dr. Lillard's presentation at SMU. Here is an article that summarizes her latest research supporting Montessori education for 3-6 year olds as an equalizer for income disparity. Here is a summary of her findings. https://news.virginia.edu/content/study-montessori-education-erases-income-achievement-gap

Shout Outs!

All staff that supported the crazy day of magnet entrance assessments on Saturday!

The PreK/K team for their exemplary collaboration in organizing and preparing for magnet entrance assessments. They prepared paperwork, communicated (in Spanish and English) with families, and worked several LONG days this week (and they will again next week!).

The 4-6 teachers for their thoughtful preparation as we meet individually to discuss in class supports and enrichment for their students.

Ms. Thorpe for her support as the DI coordinator. We have four teams that participated on February 2.

The MS team for their collaboration as they plan community service for our next Global Friday.

Ms. Villegas and Ms. Winners for their collaboration and team work for Applications and Magnet Assessments.
