Please remember that in the Berea City School District, activities during the school day may not use homemade food and must follow the Food Guidelines required under the food service license for the cafeteria. Food safety tips are available on the Nutrition Service page on the district website- www.berea.k12.oh.us. An ingredient label must be available for all foods provided.
The school district encourages us to focus parties on games, music, stories, and fun instead of food and send any treats home with students in treat bags.

Every Student Succeeds Act
Congress will vote on the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015, a reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act/No Child Left Behind (ESEA/NCLB). Please urge your members of Congress to vote “yes” on this important and historic piece of legislation. The bipartisan, bicameral legislation will improve family engagement provisions, provide flexibility to states and districts to effectively address the needs of schools and students, and increase opportunities for a well-rounded education.
Thanks to your efforts and those of members across the country, National PTA is pleased to share that the family engagement provisions we have been advocating for—the Statewide Family Engagement Centers program and improvements to parts of Title I which require school districts to establish family engagement plans and conduct family engagement activities—are included in the final bill. This is a huge achievement and testament to the power of our collective voice.
But we are not done yet! Both the U.S. House and Senate still need to vote on final passage of the bill! The House is expected to vote Thursday, December 3, and the Senate during the week of December 7.
We ask that you take action by emailing your representative and senator TODAY and encouraging them to vote "YES" on the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015.
