MARESA COACHING NETWORK
The role of an instructional coach is to serve as a guide, facilitator, and co-learner who supports teachers in eliminating roadblocks and creating the kind of learning environment he or she envisions. The MARESA Coaching Network will help connect, network, and support instructional coaches in their role of conferencing, modeling, applying assessment literacy, observing, and co-planning with teachers to provide an opportunity for coaches to grow in their role of leading job-embedded, ongoing professional learning that impacts student learning.
The MARESA Coaching Network will meet from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the following dates:
- Friday, October 28th, 2022
- Friday, December 2nd, 2022
- Friday, February 17th, 2023
- Friday, March 24th, 2023
- Friday, April 28th, 2023
LAUNCHING INTO COACHING
MARESA's Launching Into Coaching is a four-day series designed to support coaches in launching or refining an effective coaching program.
Session 1: September 6th, 2022. Coaching Teachers
- What is the role of an instructional coach? What makes a coach successful?
- What are the Essential Coaching Practices & MDE's Coaching Model and how can they support and guide my coaching program?
- Where does coaching fit within an MTSS Framework?
- How can cognitive coaching mediate teachers' thinking about their impact on student learning?
Session 2: September 7th, 2022. Coaching Groups & Systems Coaching
- What coaching models help build collective teacher efficacy?
- What best practices support PLCs and professional learning for teachers?
Session 3: September 8th, 2022.
- How can technology integration support my coaching program?
- What coaching resources are available to support building an effective coaching program?
- How will I communicate with teachers about coaching?
- What is my professional learning plan to continue growing as a coach and educator?
Session 4: September 9th, 2022
- What are the elements of explicit instruction and why are they so important when coaching teachers?
- What resources and tools are available to support coaching behavioral and classroom management challenges?
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- All Launching into Coaching sessions will start at 9:00 a.m. and end by 3:00 p.m. at MARESA.
- From 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. coffee and refreshments will be provided
- Each session will break for lunch from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. every day.
- SCECHs are available.
- Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop/iPad to each session and if available, a copy of No More Random Acts of Literacy Coaching by Erin Brown & Susan K. L'Allier
SAVE THE DATES
In addition, K-5 coaches have the opportunity to participate in the MAISA ISD Early Literacy Coaching Network to learn, connect and collaborate with coaches throughout the state.
The 2022-23 MAISA ISD Early Literacy Coaching meetings are scheduled via Zoom for:
- Wednesday, October 12th, 2022
- Thursday, December 8th, 2022
- Thursday, February 8th, 2023
- Wednesday, May 10th, 2023
MAISA will also launch a three-day New Coaches Kick-Off in September. Tentative dates are September 20th-22nd or September 27th-29th. More info TBA as it becomes available from MAISA.
