Vitamin C: sketch comedy web series
Because comedy is an essential nutrient ~ Come join us!
Work in front of the camera - and behind it!
Want to be a writer? An actor? A director of photography? Be one or all as you choose any combination of tracks in which to participate.
Track 1 - Writer's Room (write the funny stuff): writers brainstorm, write drafts, edit and punch up scripts to create three comedy sketches. Wednesday mornings, 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on January 30; February 6, 13, 20, 27; March 6, 20, 27 and April 3, 10.
Track 2 - On Location (the actors act!): Actors audition for different parts in various sketches. Regardless of role, students participate in table readings, blocking rehearsals and dress rehearsals while rotating through supplementary "Zests" highlighting key areas of the acting craft and participating in improv classes. Meet Saturday mornings, 9 AM to 10:30 AM, on January 26, February 2, 9, 16, 23, March 2, 16, 23, 30, April 6. Film shoot on Sundays, 1 PM to 4:00 PM, February 3, March 3, April 7.
Track 3 - Principal Photography (a.k.a film the thing!) and the Cutting Room (Post Production): Work behind the camera. Preproduction activities include crew set-up, storyboarding, location scouting, casting, etc. High school filmmakers, working with both college and professional mentors, shoot the sketches. After filming, students edit and create a final cut of each sketch. Rehearsals and film shoots take place on the weekend at the beginning of each month, February 2, 3, March 2, 3, April 6, 7. Editing meetings would take place on Wednesday nights at 7 PM as needed.
Sketch Screening: Saturday, April 20 at 9 AM :)
All sketches will be uploaded via Vimeo onto a dedicated Vitamin C web page on StoryArk.org for a controlled viewing experience. In addition, Vitamin C will be aired on StoryArk's YouTube channel. The $175 tuition fee covers all phases from now to the end of April 2019, and students can participate in the areas of most interest to them, exploring as much or as little as they want. Please note that all are welcome regardless of ability to pay and scholarships are available for those who need it.
