The Library Lowdown

November

November Food Drive

To tie in with the November 22 release of Catching Fire, the library will be holding a food drive. Students and staff can bring non-perishable donations to the library from Nov. 11- 22. All donations will go to the Round Rock Food Pantry. For every food item students donate, they will receive a ticket in our raffle. On November 22, we will draw two students names who will each receive a $25 gift certificate to the movies to see Catching Fire! Remember, hunger is NOT a game.

Wonder Update

Students and staff alike are doing an amazing job reading Wonder and passing it on. Our students seem to really connect with the book and are coming up with some amazing words to live by on our Wonder posters in the library. If you haven't read any of them, swing by sometime and check them out. Also, the author will be visiting Round Rock on Feb.10. She will have two sessions. The first will be during the day and I will be able to take 50 students to see her. Her second session will be in the evening and will be a ticketed event. I will be receiving a set amount of tickets for the event. If you are interested in attending, come see me and I will put you on a list for tickets.

Why we don't use Wikipedia as a cited source

I have been showing this to classes as they come in to do research but I thought I would share it with everyone. Click on the link below and just watch for a few minutes. The site shows you a live stream of anonymous edits made to Wikipedia pages across the globe. Very eye-opening for our students.
