Longhorn Stampede

2018-19: Leading the Herd (1)

Big picture

Welcome Back, Longhorns!

Lone Star Families,
Please read all the way through to the end of this newsletter. It contains an exciting piece of information just for you!

We can't wait to see your smiling faces at Meet the Teacher this week! Remember that if you will be walking your child to class on the first day, you will want to drop your license off so we can run your V-soft sticker while you walk around. Pick up your tag on the way out, and you will be able to skip the long line on Day 1!

Walking your children back:
Any/Every Day - All parents may walk to the Hug&Kiss zone in the foyer, and children will continue past the hallway doors on their own (We always have staff in the hallways to help!)
Day 1 (August 21) - All grades; parents must have visitor sticker
Days 1-3 (August 21, 22, 23) PK and Kdg; parents must check in at front desk and get visitor sticker
Days 1-5 (August 21, 22, 23, 24, 27) PK; parents must check in at front desk and get visitor sticker

Thank you! This helps us ensure that staff attention is focused on children and safe protocols are in practice.

Meet Your 1st Grade Teacher: Mrs. Lauer, room 211

I am Mrs. Lauer! I am very excited to have you in my class.

Get ready to use your imagination and do some “thinking”. I can’t wait for you to see what I have planned. Lots of fun ahead!

We will get to know each other the first week, but here are some things you might want to know about me.

I have been teaching for 27 years. I have been in Montgomery for 14 years. I have taught first grade FOREVER! Love my little “firsties” because you make me laugh!

Who am I? I am a wife to Mr. Lauer for 31 years! Whew…that’s a long time!

I am a mom to 3 boys, Barrett, Brian and Brock. Barrett and Brian graduated from college and are all grown up. Brock plays tennis for Lamar University and I love going to watch him play. I also have this crazy dog named Cooper!

Things that make me happy: Spending time with my hubby and kids, playing golf, being out on the lake, eating out, watching the Lamar tennis team in action, watching movies, and Cooper when he’s not being a nutty dog!

Favorites: the color red, McDonald’s iced tea, The Texans football team, a good steak, and Schlotzsky’s sandwiches.

The last thing and most important thing you need to know, is I love my job!

You are going to rock first grade and I will make sure your brain grows and grows. I want you to love, love, LOVE coming to school. Are you ready? I am!

Parents, please feel free to email a picture of your child and a few sentences about them to your child's teacher in response.
