Spring Updates

Happy Spring!! I hope you all are doing well as we transition into the end of our school year! I do believe that our school year once again has flown by. I know many of you are preparing for end of the year ceremonies, at all levels, elementary, middle and high schools. As we end our school year I want you to know that VSCA is busily working on many changes for us. The statewide evaluation tool objective is moving right along and we are hoping to have this document ready for use by Fall 2016. It will finally feel great to know that our evaluations will be based on school counselor competencies only!!

Below are a few updates from VSCA as well as Region 8. Please let me know if you need anything or how VSCA can continue to help serve you.

VSCA's Spring Professional Development-Friday, April 29th

If you are looking for a refreshing way to wrap up your school year please check out the PD that will be held in Charlottesville. Details about registration are in the link below. https://www.smore.com/cnjvm

Region 8 Spring Meet & Greet-Thursday, April 28th

Our Spring Meet & Greet date has been moved to Thursday, April 28th at 11:00am-12:30pm at Macados in Farmville, Virginia. Please let me know if you are planning to attend. I know some of you voiced that having a Meet & Greet during the day versus the evenings may be better. The date was changed as VSCA will be holding Spring Professional Development on Friday, April 29th in Charlottesville. I hope you all can attend.

April is Military Month

Governor Terry McAuliffe has designated April as the Month of the Military Child and, along with First Lady Dorothy McAuliffe, is encouraging schools to show support for military children by participating in Purple Up! Day on April 15. The Virginia Department of Education has resources and information for schools, communities and families to recognize and support military children.

April 11th-15th in particular, has been designated to show support for our military children. I hope that we can show our support for our military students in Region 8 this month!!
