Hard drive (HDD)/SSD
A hard disk drive is where all the information is stored on a computer such as pictures, videos, documents and applications. Inside the hard drive is a platter and an arm which turns the platter round, the platter stores all the information on it and allows it to be accessed later.
A solid state drive or SSD is the same as a hard drive but has no moving parts so it is smaller, it also allows the information to be accesed faster. Solid state drives are used on newer technology including smartphones and ipads although they can store less information on them they are more expensive. This is because SSD's are harder to make.
