Weekly Reminders
Wk 3 Term 2 - for the Week Commencing 9th May

From the Principal
Good afternoon everyone
Many thanks for a great Week 2 everyone.
The sunshine has put a spring in everyone's step and we hope that your week went well.
Open Classrooms
You will receive a link to your child's VIRTUAL Open Classroom this afternoon via email (more details below). We hope you enjoy this simple opportunity to take a peek into your child's classroom!
Happy Mother's Day
A very happy Mother's Day to all our wonderful, Mums! May your special day be a really happy and hopefully, very relaxing one. Here at school we have done our best to plant the seed that the day is less about pressies and more about doing the simple things right -
a cuddle, a kiss, a special note, not arguing or fighting with brothers and sisters and generally being the best they can be for you :)
The Year Two Mother's Day Assembly and morning tea was a lovely way to celebrate our Mums and it heralds a new way forward with reconnecting with one another. Thanks to all those who were able to attend and to all those wonderful people who assisted us in any way.
Many thanks to Jain Chow (P&F President) and her special P&F helpers who organised the beautiful bag of goodies you received today. It is important that we recognise and appreciate the hard work of others that brings a little sunshine into our day! The ladies spent the better part of the day getting these ready for all our mothers.
Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs)
Our school will receive the WA Government supply of Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) shortly. Over the coming days we will outline the procedures by which these RATs will be distributed to you for use by your child if they become symptomatic or if they are close household contacts.
Please be mindful that while these RATs are safe for use by children, they should only be administered under the supervision of an appropriate adult.
Any positive COVID-19 result should be reported on the school’s COVID-19 Self-Reporting Portal and positive COVID-19 RAT results must also be reported on the WA Health RAT Register, as is required by the WA Government. Thank you.
Condolences to Father Jean-Noel Marie
This week our dear friend and Parish Priest, Father Jean- Noel Marie lost his much loved father. The funeral will be held here at St Emilie's in a couple of weeks. Please keep him and his family in your prayers.
A Friendly Reminder
Parents are reminded that how you communicate with staff really matters. If you need to express an opinion, share a complaint, or other, it is a very high expectation that you do so in a consistently respectful manner. It is also important to appreciate that even with the very best of intentions, teachers may not always be in a position to return your email or call on the same day that something happens. Please rest assured that as a staff, we like, and we need to hear what you have to say, however, how you say it, is important.
Ritchell Lim Releases a new Single
You may have been lucky enough to hear Ritchell Lim sing at our Christmas Concert last year. Please read more below about how you can support one very talented, local singer.
Kindest regards
Tania Thuijs
Principal

Congratulations to all our Mums who won our Class Raffles!

Thanks to the P&F for their beautiful gifts for our Mums!

Supporting a local Singer /Songwriter
The wonderful Ritchell Lim, St Emilie's vocals coach and singer /songwriter, has just released a song for mothers called, 'A Mother's Sacrifice'. It is a really beautiful song and a bargain for the $1.69 being charged on on itunes/apple music.
You can of course listen to it for free on Spotify but it would be wonderful if we could all support this young artist by purchasing a copy.
Ritchell is a singer/songwriter with thirteen years experience on the international music scene.
Blind virtually since birth, Ritchell's heightened awareness of sound has helped her to create vibrant, exuberant and joyous music.
Ritchell has toured Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia, entertaining audiences with everything from pop songs, to ballads, to playful jazz.
In 2011, Ritchell was invited to perform with Guy Sebastian at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) on live international television.

Well done on your great assembly Year Two's!

CLOSE CONTACTS AND SUBSEQUENT COVID CASES IN THE HOME
Where an individual is identified as an asymptomatic close contact (no symptoms) , the close contact is required to adhere to the following requirements for seven days, commencing from the day that the COVID-19 test was taken by the COVID-19 positive person:
• Wear a face mask upon leaving the home.
• Take a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) for seven days and only exit the home if a negative
result is returned.
• Avoid high-risk settings until the seven-day period has concluded.
Where a subsequent COVID-19 positive case is identified in the home, the person considered an asymptomatic close contact is not required to meet the above criteria, unless the second COVID-19 test was taken after the original seven-day quarantine period.
Please see below scenarios for clarification:
Scenario 1:
• Student A is an asymptomatic close contact, living with a parent who is COVID-19 Positive.
• Student A returns a negative RAT and wears a face mask upon leaving the home.
• On day five, a sibling of Student A returns a positive COVID-19 RAT.
• Student A must complete the additional two days of Rapid Antigen Testing and wear
a mask when leaving the home.
• After this time, Student A is not required to undertake a RAT or wear a face mask, even
with a second COVID-19 positive person in the home.
Scenario 2:
• Student B is an asymptomatic close contact, living with a parent who is COVID-19 Positive.
• Student B returns a negative RAT and wears a face mask upon leaving the home.
• On the eighth day after the first COVID-19 case in the home, a sibling of Student B
returns a positive COVID-19 RAT.
• Student B must complete a further seven days of Rapid Antigen Testing and wear
a mask when leaving the home.
Please note, children under the age of 12 and students in Year 6 or below, are not required to wear a face mask, in accordance with the new Transition Face Covering Directions (No.7). Persons who hold a current mask exception are also exempt from this requirement, even if identified as an asymptomatic close contact.
