What is Global Warming?
Wonder?
Find it out!
There has been an increase in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere. These gasses act as a barrier, and the more gas the thicker the barrier. This means that the gasses trap heat in the Earth's atmosphere, and therefore warming the earth. The increase in greenhouse gasses is due to the burning of fossil fuels, the abundant agriculture business, land clearing, and other human activities.
Scientists from the Intergovernmental Panel on climate, who carry out global warming research, have recently predicted that average global temperatures could increase between 1.4 degrees C and 5.8 degrees C by the year 2100. Changes due to global warming will include the melting of polar ice caps, more intense and frequent storms, inconsistent weather patterns, and much more. These changes are going to be very costly to our planet and to the human race. Global warming is a real problem, and we need to be doing everything in our power to slow it down.
