DHS Advanced Placement Update
March 24, 2020
The Principal's Perspective: College Board's Latest AP Updates
Greetings DHS AP Students, Families and Faculty Members:
We appreciate your patience during these uncertain times as the DHS Leadership Team looks to provide members of the school community with the best, most current updates relative to various aspects of your education. Just yesterday the College Board which governs strictly the administration of all Advanced Placement examinations provided an update relative to the administration of the 2020 AP exams.
Highlights from the March 23, 2020 College Board Update include the following:
- AP Exams will NOT be taken in person but will be administered to students at their home
- College Board will publish a full AP Exam schedule to their website by April 3, 2020 with two administration dates per exam as options available to students
- AP Exams for 2020 will be streamlined and will be 45 minutes in length focused on content that would have been covered by AP Teachers by the first week of March
- Colleges and Universities have committed to honoring qualifying scores in the same manner that they have in the past (check the college/university policies for specific information)
- The College Board will be providing free, high-quality AP resources for students to access throughout the administration of the respective exam (a link to the resources is included below)
Any student who needs assistance from the College Board with regard to connectivity or mobile device access can reach out directly to them by completing the following form: College Board Student Access Request Form.
In addition to the highlights provided above, the College Board has extended the submission deadline for AP Art portfolios as well as for AP Computer Science Principles until May 26th. Click here for full details about these extensions, as well as for other updates from the College Board relative to AP Exams.
In closing, I encourage all DHS students currently enrolled in AP courses to maintain close contact via email, zoom, google meet and/or google classroom with your current AP Teacher throughout the school closure. Our AP Teachers will be providing additional resources and learning opportunities for all of their AP students that will help ensure all of the DHS AP students are prepared for success on the AP Exams this year.
Be Well DHS!
