March 10th, 2023

Dear Eaton Families,

We are incredibly proud of our Eaton Battle of the Books team, who placed 1st in the district competition. They have worked so hard to prepare for this competition. A special thank you to our coaches, Ms. Mitchell and Mrs. Shanahan, for their dedication and support.

Congratulations to our 2022-2023 Battle of the Books team:

Girls on the Run

We had an over-whelming response for participants for our 3rd-5th grade Girls on the Run team. Our team has reached capacity and registration has closed.

Lunch Visitors

The small tables by the windows in the cafeteria will be designated for lunch visitors. If you are coming to school to eat with your child we kindly ask that you find a table away from classes. Students are not allowed to bring friends with them to the lunch visitor table.

Ogden Park Road Side Morning Drop Off

Vehicles are unable to access the grass area used for parking in the morning on Ogden Park Road. The Department of Transportation received complaints about the shoulder drop-off. Upon evaluation they determined that it was necessary to reestablish the ditch and build the shoulder up. As a result of this work, families are not able to access the grass area used for parking.

We can not allow our families to park in our side parking lot, or drive through and drop students off on the side, due to space and safety concerns. Side drop off is not available until further notice. Please plan to use the car drop off line in the front of the school. We are working with the district to improve our morning drop-off process.

School Assignment Notices for the 2023-24 school year went home on Friday, March 3rd. Please review the notice for accurate information. There is no action required unless you choose to seek other school options. If you feel there is an error or you have questions please contact Lyndsie Hutson, our Student Data Manager.

Eaton Field Day will be on Thursday, April 6th. Coach Tew needs volunteers to help make field day a success. All volunteers must complete volunteer training. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please see the information in the volunteer section in this newsletter. Field Day times are listed below. Parents may come as visitors/spectators, but may not run a station unless they are a volunteer. All visitors and volunteers must sign in and out in the office, so you may want to arrive early. School-aged siblings who attend Eaton are not allowed to be spectators or participate in a sibling's field day if they fall at different times.

Big picture

Volunteer Information

All volunteers must complete the training orientation, complete and turn in a volunteer application form, and take the volunteer assessment with 80% or higher each school year.

Volunteer application forms are linked below, and are also available in the front office.

All field trip chaperones must become a Level II volunteer, which requires a background check through NHCS. Background checks are good for three years. You can log into your account to check your expiration date, or contact Mrs. Allen. The NHCS background check system is linked below. Level 2 volunteers must also complete the orientation and assessment each year.

All volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Level I

Parents, family, or community members volunteering to assist students in a supervised setting are not required to undergo a background check if they are continually supervised by school personnel during the school day.

Level II

Parents, family, or community members volunteering to assist students in an unsupervised setting away from school personnel are deemed Level II Volunteers. We also ask that all chaperones become Level II volunteers, as well as those interested in assisting in our media center and cafeteria at Eaton Elementary. An applicant designated a Level II Volunteer must complete the online application and the criminal background check. Applications must be completed at least two weeks prior to the time you wish to begin volunteering. The cost of background checks are $20.
