Thank you for helping us help YOU! It is essential that parents/families make appointments to see Administrators at RMMS. Parents who arrive on campus prior to school beginning will need to wait until school starts to meet with an Administrator. Please note that all Administrators are on campus, welcoming scholars, each morning from 8:00 am - 8:30 am. Administrators are not available to meet with parents during this time. We thank you for your understanding and patience. Please schedule an appointment by calling 760-631-4500.
Our scholars are assigned an Administrator based on their last names. We are all here to help! Please call Ms. Claudia at 760-631-4500, x64006, to set up an appointment if needed or click on the AP's name to email them directly in English or Spanish. Be sure to include your scholar's name.

Teach teens how to be responsible online
Austin Luliano, Social Media Marketing Consultant
Educate teens about what is right and wrong for online activities. When students randomly send their phone number or personal data on Snapchat, teach them to show their parents the message.
Explain to teens why it isn't appropriate to share personal information on Snapchat or Instagram. Parents need to be aware that kids have access to everyone and if the parents take the time to educate their kids, 9 times out of 10 the kids will make the right decision.

IMPORTANT COVID INFORMATION
KEEP YOUR SCHOLAR HOME IF THEY DON'T FEEL WELL
Please remember that if your scholar doesn't feel well, please keep them home. In addition, if you are waiting for a test result for your scholar, or anyone in your family, please do not send the scholar to school until you receive a negative test. You will help us keep RMMS open and healthy. We don't want to have to send scholars home. Thank you for helping us!!!
QUARANTINING DURING COVID
We appreciate your support as we continue to work through all the challenges with COVID protocols. Thank you for helping our school stay safe and healthy by checking in with your scholar about how they are feeling AND keeping them home if they don't feel 100%. If they come to school not feeling well, they could be sent home to quarantine. Please know that CANVAS is the district approved learning management system for all scholars in VUSD. If your scholar is quarantined, please know that it may take a day or two for the teachers to get all the assignments uploaded and ready to go.
We will not be sending out school wide letters to families if we have a COVID positive scholar at RMMS. We WILL include that information in this newsletter. Only those families that have a scholar who is considered a close contact will be notified directly.
Check out the COVID INFORMATION NEWSLETTER and the VUSD COVID-19 Dashboard below.
NTCD BUS INFORMATION
If your scholar rides the NCTD bus, please be sure they ask the driver if they are going to Rancho Minerva. The normal Route 334 DOES NOT go to RMMS. We have a special bus that brings scholars to RMMS in the morning. Please remind your scholar to ask before getting on the bus. We don't want them to end up somewhere else! See the schedules below.

REMINDERS FROM PREVIOUS NEWSLETTERS
LATE START MONDAYS
Just a reminder that all middle schools in VUSD have late start Mondays. We begin school at 9:30 am every Monday. Gates open at 9 am. Please do not drop off your scholar prior to 9 am. Please check with ASES if you need AM/PM care for your scholar.
CELL PHONES ON CAMPUS
All scholars are reminded to power down their cell phones and to put them in their backpacks each morning during the announcements. If a scholar needs to reach their family, they are able to access the phones in classrooms or in Scholar Services. If a scholar's phone is seen out (for example, in their back pocket), it could be confiscated and held for parent pickup. Thank you for your support in advance.
Assembly Bill 272, signed into law on July 1, 2019, allows schools to limit the use of smartphones while scholars are on campus. "The bill declares that there is growing evidence that unrestricted use of smartphones by students during the school day interferes with the educational mission of schools; lowers pupil performance, particularly among low-achieving pupils; promotes cyberbullying; and contributes to an increase in teenage anxiety, depression and suicide." Click here for more information.
NUTRITION
Per our handbook, please be sure scholars leave candy, large bags of chips, sodas, and energy drinks at home. All purchased drinks (like Starbucks, McDonalds, etc) need to be finished prior entering 1st period. In addition, please remind your scholar to bring a refillable water bottle to school to stay hydrated.
