Additional Learning Resources
This year, OVCA has started utilizing several different supplemental resources for elementary students. Our goal is to create a personalized learning path for each student, so expectations for the below resources will differ depending on each student's individual needs. If you have specific questions, please contact your child's homeroom teacher.
Exact Path: This is a K-8 online curriculum product that provides standards-based instruction in Reading, Language Arts and Math. The Exact Path learning experience constructs individualized learning paths for students based on results of the included diagnostic assessment and tailors student learning based on their performance throughout the system. Students beginning of year NWEA MAP Skills assessment results were loaded into Exact Path to create an individualized learning path in language arts (Kindergarten & 1st grade), math (2nd - 5th grade), and reading (2nd - 5th grade).
MindPlay: This program is designed to support readers of all levels. Students can work on their phonemic awareness or phonics skills while students at (or above) grade level can continue to work on their reading fluency, which research shows leads to a higher level of reading comprehension. As students begin working in MindPlay, they will take a short assessment to help determine their individual needs. Teachers will provide guidance on how much time should be spent in MindPlay weekly and help find that time.
Seesaw Learning: Seesaw Learning provides an opportunity for students to create a digital portfolio of their work for this school year - and beyond. Students can show themselves as well as their teachers what they know and can track progress thru the school year. Each grade level is using this for writing journals and TGAs but many are using it for so much more! If you haven't already, be sure to check out the recording feature within Seesaw. Your child can record themselves reading something they wrote or just from a book they are reading to share with their teacher. All students should have received a log in code from their teacher to access Seesaw Learning.
Bison On Track Calendar
To make sure students know what assignments to complete each day, each grade level team creates a Bison On-Track calendar. This calendar can be found within each grade level newsletter sent out each Friday by the homeroom teacher; I've also included them at the bottom of this week's Mrs. Claggett's Corner for you download if needed. For help on how to use the calendar, please view a video by clicking here.
Media Release Form
OVCA is focused on providing a safe virtual learning environment. With this in mind, we ask that a legal guardian complete the below survey for each student enrolled with OVCA. The media release form includes two sections: Photograph, Testimonial and Interview Release, and Face to Face Platform (webcam) Usage School-Guardian-Student Compact. You will be given the choice to accept or decline each opportunity.
Together we can help students reach their full potential through personalized learning this year! Thank you for taking the time to complete this form.
