Swansboro High School
Weekly Updates November 11, 2018
Happy Veterans Day and Happy Birthday to our Marine Corps Families,
It was wonderful to have our students back in the building this week. Everyone was excited to be back and positive energy was seen in the classrooms, on the athletic fields and even during lunch. Please remember that students qualify for free breakfast and lunch throughout the month of November.
Congratulations to our school community for placing in the top 5% of schools in the state for student growth last year. This performance was a direct result of the hard work of our students and teachers and the support of our families. Congratulations also to our football teams for ending their seasons on a high note with wins against White Oak and Northside High Schools. Kudos to our varsity soccer team for their incredible season. They made it to the 3rd round of playoffs and represented our school community with great sportsmanship. We also have 15 students representing Swansboro High School at the Model United Nations conference at William and Mary this weekend. Thanks goes to our faculty sponsors, Coach McFarland, Mrs. Ladley and Mr. Justice for providing students with such enriching activities.
Opportunities truly abound for our students and last week was packed with basketball, wrestling, indoor track and Odyssey of the Mind try outs. We will add step team try outs, GSA, Robotics, Foreign Language club and after school weight lifting to the calendar of events this week. There is literally something for everyone at Swansboro High School and we encourage all students to get involved.
Please note that Impact Aid cards go home on Tuesday. All parents need to sign and students need to return the cards on Wednesday. The homerooms with 100% of cards returned will receive a special treat on Friday! This week will also include our Project Graduation craft fair on Saturday. We hope that you will come out and shop early for the holidays. Seniors will also receive a scentsy fundraiser packet on Tuesday. They will be selling scent circles in sets of 6 for $20. All proceeds benefit our Class of 2019 Project Graduation efforts.
